A total of 483 counterfeit euro banknotes surfaced in Finland last year, the Bank of Finland said on Friday.
The number of fakes has declined compared with previous years, 714 in 2024 and 653 the year before.
Most of the counterfeits found last year were 50-euro notes, totaling 251. There were 130 counterfeit 20-euro notes and 47 fake 10-euro bills.
Banknote expert Olli Vehmas from the Bank of Finland said that the number of counterfeits has remained low compared with the rest of the euro area.
The Bank of Finland has posted instructions for how to check if a banknote is genuine.
