Adobe Media Player (AMP) released

Adobe Systems yesterday released a new Flash-based media player application for the Mac. Adobe Media Player 1.0 (AMP) is a free download that includes instructional video content on how to use Adobe products.

Macworld reports:

The move makes Adobe the latest player to get into the online video space, offering not only software that rivals Apple's Quicktime and Microsoft's Windows Media Player, but also video content such as episodes of "CSI: Miami" and "CSI: New York," along with other feature programming and music videos.

First Apple announces Aperture 2.1 with a plug-in architecture, then Adobe announces the Lightroom 2.0 public beta. Now AMP. Should QuickTime be scared?
