Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, had a guest staying at their home who left prior to their murders on Sunday, December 14, “because of how insane their son was acting, not just in general but towards the guest,” a source tells the National Enquirer.

“They literally fled because they felt so uncomfortable being around the son they had no choice but to get out of there,” the source adds of the guest. “They made the right decision to leave because they could have been killed too.”

“It’s just such a tragedy that it’s possible they could have been saved. The son was a ticking time bomb,” says the source, who notes that at Conan O’Brien’s holiday party the night before, Nick was with his parents and “appeared to be totally f**ked up.”

“Many people who saw them at the party felt exactly the same way it was clearly a major problem,” continues the source. “There’s no question from the family or close friends it was the son who killed them.”
