Michal Higdon joined WVTM 13 in 2025 as a breaking news anchor. 

Before coming to Birmingham, she was an evening anchor in Charleston, South Carolina. 

Michal has won dozens of local and regional awards for her work in the community, including multiple Emmys for hurricane coverage and best morning newscast. 

Michal graduated from the University of Florida and has lived in several places across the southeast including Orlando, Florida and Nashville, Tennessee.
