Julian Mitchell is the sports director at WVTM 13. He joined the team as a sports reporter in 2024 and became sports director one year later. Whether it’s high school, college, or professional sports, he remains dedicated to sharing the stories that shape the lives of our athletes and communities. 

Before coming to Birmingham, he was a sports anchor in Rochester, Minnesota. While there, he covered the great high school sports scene in Southeast Minnesota, the 2023 Minnesota Twins playoff run and a NCAA Women’s Final Four.  Julian graduated from Michigan State University and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri.  To connect or send Julian your story ideas, click the social media icons above and check out his latest stories below.
