Geography
Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa on Lake Victoria. The land has a total area of 241,550 km² (93,263 mi²). This land area is approximately 60% of the area of California. Uganda is thus the 27th smallest country in Africa and ranked 81st in the world. Most of the population (73%) resides within rural regions.The highest mountain peak (Margherita Peak) is at 5,109 meters. There is no access to the open sea. There are direct national borders with the five neighboring countries Congo (Dem. Republic), Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan and Tanzania. The distance between New York City and the Capital Kampala is about 11,380 km (7,071 mi).

Climate in Uganda
In Uganda, as in all equatorial countries, there is a tropical climate. Unlike in Europe or the USA, there is almost no difference between the seasons. The daylight hours vary little, and the temperature differences between summer and winter are also lower. Depending on the season, the average daytime temperatures range between 25 and 27 degrees.
