Sorsby's 2 TD day not enough as Bearcats drop first Big 12 game
SIXTH STRAIGHT GAME THIS WEEKEND TO OFFICIALLY SECURE BOWL ELIGIBILITY, THE BEARCATS ARE UP TO NUMBER 21 IN THIS WEEK’S AP POLL, TOP OF THE CONFERENCE. YOU SEE SUCCESS THIS SEASON, IN PART THANKS TO TOMMY WALKER. ONCE A SOCCER PLAYER AND NOW HE’S ONE OF THE BEST RUNNING BACKS IN AMERICA, SPORTS ANCHOR JARED MAY PROFILES HIS UNIQUE JOURNEY TO CLIFTON WALKER. TOUCHDOWN, OKLAHOMA! WALKER. THAT WASN’T EASY, BUT IT’S A TOUCHDOWN. THEY RUN IT RIGHT BEHIND HIM OVER THE RIGHT SIDE. TOMMY WALKER. IF I’M BLESSED ENOUGH I WANT TO MOVE ON TO THE NFL. EVEN AS A KID, TOMMY WALKER ALWAYS WANTED TO PLAY PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL. SO AS A HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR, THE HARD NOSED RUNNING BACK MOVED TO ARIZONA TO TRY TO HELP HIS COLLEGE RECRUITING. BUT HE ONLY RECEIVED TWO OFFERS FROM MID-LEVEL SCHOOLS. I JUST KIND OF FELT LIKE THAT WASN’T REALLY THE ROUTE FOR ME. KIND OF FELT LIKE I WAS KIND OF BIG HEADED, LIKE I THINK I DESERVED BETTER THAN THAT. SO I KIND OF THOUGHT IT WAS KIND OF OVER FOR ME. JUST LIKE THAT. WALKER GAVE UP ON HIS FOOTBALL DREAMS. THE 18 YEAR OLD MOVED BACK TO VEGAS, FORGOT ABOUT THE SPORT AND STARTED WORKING IN A WAREHOUSE. I WAS KIND OF READY TO LIVE LIFE, SO I WASN’T REALLY DIDN’T HAVE REALLY REGRETS UNTIL LIKE THE NEXT TWO YEARS REALLY. HE WAS LIVING LIFE AND EVEN HAD A BABY BOY. BUT THEN THOSE REGRETS CREPT IN. WALKER WAS MISSING FOOTBALL. SO AFTER TWO FULL YEARS OF NOT PLAYING, WE PUT THE PADS BACK ON AT PALOMAR JUNIOR COLLEGE. EVER SINCE I COMMITTED MYSELF TO GOING TO A JUNIOR COLLEGE, I HAD TO HAVE NO REGRETS AND LEAVE IT OUT ON THE FIELD. EVERY TIME. THAT MENTALITY EARNED WALKER A SPOT AT OKLAHOMA, A POWER FOUR SCHOOL, EXACTLY WHAT HE DREAMT OF. BUT THE SOONERS DIDN’T PUT HIM ON SCHOLARSHIP. NO. TAHI WAS A WALK ON FOR TWO YEARS IN NORMAN. FINALLY, LAST YEAR, WISCONSIN OFFERED WALKER. HE TRANSFERRED AND BALLED OUT, EARNING ALL-BIG TEN HONORS. DALI WALKER. YET THE 24 YEAR OLD’S COLLEGE JOURNEY IS STILL NOT DONE, ESPECIALLY JUST HIS PHYSICALITY. THAT’S OBVIOUSLY WHO HE IS. AND ONE THING ABOUT THIS GAME, MAN, YOU CAN’T SUBSTITUTE PHYSICALITY. THE REDSHIRT SENIOR IS NOW PLAYING FOR CINCINNATI BACKFIELD A SWING AT WALKER, PATIENT WAITING FOR THE WALL BLOCKERS. AND HE IS IN THE BRUISING BACK HELPING THE BEARCATS HAVE THEIR BEST SEASON IN YEARS. I FEEL LIKE IT’S KIND OF MY JOB ON THIS TEAM TO BE THE ENFORCER WALKER AGAIN, PUNISHING FINISH HIS PLAY IN. CLIFTON IS EVEN CATCHING NFL SCOUTS ATTENTION. SO MAYBE EVEN AFTER AN UNORDINARY JOURNEY, TAWI WALKER MIGHT ACHIEVE THAT CHILDHOOD DREAM. RUN MY RACE. AND NO, IT’S IT’S A MARATHON. JUST DON’T WATCH ANYBODY ELSE PATH. JUST LIVE MY PATH AND EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON. AT THE END OF THE
