Biography

Douwe Willems Camstra was born in 1746 in Tietjerk, Friesland, Netherlands, the son of Willem Jans and Aukje Douwes.^[1]

He was married to Elisabeth (Lijsbeth) Jans^[1] on May 19, 1771, in Leeuwarden, Friesland, Netherlands.^[2]

He died on on August 22, 1830, in Leeuwarden, Friesland, Netherlands.^[1]

Death record of Douwe Willems Camstra, d. Leeuwarden 22 August 1830 465. In the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty, the twenty-third day of the month of August, in the morning at half past eleven o’clock, appeared before us alderman officer of the civil registration of the municipality of Leeuwarden, Province of Vriesland [sic], Klaas Jacobs Hinne, aged sixty-five years, shoemaker, and Pieter Fiers, aged fourty-seven years, “binnenvader in het Diaconijhuis” [overseer of the church poor house], both living in this location, Who declared to us that Douwe Willems Camstra, aged eighty-four years, without occupation, born in Tietjerk, living in Leeuwarden, widower of Elisabeth Jans, son of Willem Jans and of Aukje Douwes, both deceased, Died on the twenty-second day of the month of August at night at one o’clock, in the area letter F, number two hundred sixty-five in this location, and the declarers have signed this record, after this had been read aloud to them, together with us.
