Biography
Samuel Webster was the son of Nathaniel Webster and Margaret Steele. He was married about 1770 to Susannah Bagby. He was named in the will of his father dated 9 Jul 1798.
He purchased 100 acres in Franklin County from his brother John in 1786 where he resided for the remainder of his life. The 1976 "Settlement Map of Franklin County, Virginia" locates Samuel's land in the northwestern section of the county [1] He passed away in 1823.

In the name of God Amen I Samuel Webster of the County of Franklin and State of Virginia being very sick but in perfect memory and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do ordain this my last Will and Testament and first I bequeath my Soul to Almighty God who gave it and this my body to its kindred earth to be buried in decent christian burial nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same[.] And as touching such earthly things as it has pleased God to bless me with I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Susannah Webster a negro girl by the name of Charlotte. I give and bequeath half my land my house household and kitchen furniture to be hers her lifetime and at her decease to be divided equally among my children[.] all my other property I give and bequeath to my children namely Susannah Billups Joseph Price James Webster Samuel Webster Betsy Webster Daniel Webster James Webster William C Webster, Polly Moss Reuben Webster Deborah Turner to be equally divided between each and every one of them except James Webster who shall have twenty pounds more than the rest[.] in Witness whereof I hereby acknowledge this to be my Last Will and Testament. NB I also desire my two eldest Sons namely Samuel and Daniel Webster to be administrators on my Estate As witness my hand this Seventh day of January in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty three
