Hi this is Sandy who told you about:

Albert Akowitz I met when I was a child. I saw the numbers on his arm. He was born November 21 1901 and his address when he was 64 was Dearborn Michigan in Wayne County. 48126 zip code. That was when he died. In 1941 he was 34 years old. He had two brothers Alphonse Akowitz who died in 1974 in Hamden Conn. and Ernest T. Akowitz who died in 2000 in Claremont LA. My mother introduced me to Albert "Al" because my birthday was 1 day after his. I don't know how to look someone up to see if he is in wikitree but I wondered if you could look into adding him and his brothers. My mother really thought he was a wonderful man. She worked in Oakridge TN where the Atom Bomb was being built. She almost became infertile because of it. I also was affected and my sister. There is a book about it called Atomic City (The untold story of the women who helped win WWII) So they had more to talk about because her work helped him to live in the end. Her reaction while talking to him was what impressed me. Her eyes would tell me her mood and she was very moved to talk to him as if he was a famous person. I know he had a dark shirt that had some kind of plaid print to it because he rolled up his sleeve and showed me the numbers he had put onto his arm. He was very thin even in the 60's. I met a man in Kansas City MI named Harold Jackson who would be 100 years old this April. He went to Germany with the Army at the end of the war and saw all the horrible things that were done to prisoners. It was hard for him to tell of details. He was on a flight to Washington DC about six years ago for the ceremony on Veteran's Day. I thought it was interesting to meet both men in my life. Some say it didn't happen but it did and I know for sure because of both men I met. I wish I could tell you more than I did. [email address removed]

Hi Elaine,

while looking for a Holocaust Category for Lublin in Poland (Distrikt Lublin, Generalgouvernement), another Category showed up in the drop down which would have to be corrected: [Category:Holocaust Victims at Friedrichssegen an du Lahn]. The correct location spelling would be "Friedrichssegen an der Lahn" (meaning Friedrichssegen on the [river] Lahn) instead of "an du Lahn" (which is a mix of German and French).

Is there a Holocaust Category for victims at Lublin (Ghetto)? Or should there be one? (WT profile: Bernhard Grabowski-548)

thanks, Vanessa

Hi Elaine,

Great, just do add the sources you have, such as transcribe the pertinent parts of the documents, etc. Oh, just one other thing, you can write literally everything in Dutch, except for the word "Onbekend" in the Last Name at Birth field... the English word "Unknown" is supposed to be used instead.... it's a special keyword in the database. (you could still put Onbekend in any other name field, just not that one) And thanks for your offer, much appreciated!

Hey Mrs. Elaine I hoping all is well. A man named William Rufus Franklin Potter enslaved my Great(x4) Grandfather and most likely fathered him as well. He has slave census records but the slaves are not named. Do you mind helping me identify them? Thanks.

Jarvis,

Have you done a DNA match and triangulation to prove the potential connection?
