Anna Dorothy Monnett, nee Walton. Daughter of David Walton and Louisa Winchell Walton. Married Augustus Eddy Monnett 2-25-1868. Four children: Ada Define, Irvine Elmer, Rose Cordelia and Walter. The marriage ended in divorce. She also was married to William Raney Davidson, however, that marriage also terminated in divorce or dissolution, and she never used his name.
The name on her headstone, per Find A Grave rules must match the listing. However, the use of Walton is part of the confusion surrounding her life: 1) Chicago death records list her as Anna Dorothy Walton. The Marion Weekly Star front page death notice identifies her as "Mrs. Edward Monnette" the wife of "Edward Monnette", which Augustus Eddy Monnette went by. 2) The death notice also states that her body was not sent to her husband's home (Edward Monnett may have already moved to Nebraska), but to her brother James Walton's home near Kirkpatrick and that she was buried in Kirkpatrick. 3) The Chicago death record says that she was buried in Caledonia, yet Caledonia has no record of such a burial. 4) No mention of the marriage to Davison is made in the death notice. 5) And according to the extended family members, she is buried under her maiden name at the request of children. 6) Throughout her life she used the names Annie, and Dortha
