Research Notes

Date and place of birth are unknown. It is speculated that she was a 2nd wife and is not the mother of the older children of Robert Stevens, whose will mentions a messuage[2] in Brixton called Slowe; sons Tristam, Thomas, William, John; wife "Dewence"; daughters "Dewence" and Lydia.

Dionis (…), whose ancestry is unknown, was born about 1580. She died at Brixton, Devon, England, about November 1647.

The ancestry link you provided just takes me to a membership subscription page so I cannot see if there are actually any sources provided.

Strange. It works for me. Maybe you only have a limited subscription?

Many people on WikiTree do not have an Ancestry subscription, which is why posting the specifics on the actual source, as well as related text that Ancestry is reporting, is so important.

No. That refers to a baptism of Dionis Stevens in 1590. Stevens was her married name, most probably not her last name at birth.

Well, darn. I don't have much to use for her, info-wise.

What is meant by "messuage"? The only word that comes to mind is mitsuage(sp?). It's a Japanese word. I recall hearing it regarding geishas in training. I can't recall what people who aren't yet geishas, are called, off the top of my head.
