Biography
Adam was born about 1765. He was the son of Johann Adam Routzahn and Catharine Unknown.
Adam and his wife Elizabeth sponsored the baptism of Elisabeth Derr on 4 July 1790; Adam and Elizabeth's daughter Catherine was baptised the same day.[1]
Adam and his wife Elizabeth sponsored the baptism of Elisabeth Kugel daughter of Christ. and Anna Maria Kugel on 5 February 1792; Adam and Elizabeth's daughter Magdalena was baptised the same day, with Christian and Anna Maria Kugel sponsoring.[2]
Adam and his wife Elizabeth sponsored the baptism of Adam's nephew Johann Adam Rauenzan, son of Ludwig and Esther, on 2 April 1797.[3]
An Adam Rauthzahn and wife christened a daughter Liedia on 15 April 1804, but because the wife's name isn't given it's unclear whether that's this Adam or a different one.[4] A similar question holds with Adam son of Adam Rauthzan and wife christend on 17 August 1806.[5] Neither of these children are named in Adam's will, so if they are this Adam's children, they may have predeceased him.
Adam is named in his father Adam Routzahn's 1825 will.[6]
He passed away in 1831.
Adam wrote his will on 18 August 1831; it was probated on 10 October 1831. The will names children Sally Routzahn, Enos Routzahn, Adam Routzahn, David Routzahn (apparently mentally disabled), Benjamin Routzahn, John Routzahn (deceased), Daniel Routzahn, Elizabeth Biser, Mary Biser, Joshua Routzahn, and Catherine Biser (deceased); sons-in-law Daniel Biser and Peter Biser; and grandchildren John Biser, Frederick Biser, and Peter Biser, sons of the deceased Catherine and her husband Daniel. Sons Benjamin and Enos were named executors. The witnesses were John McNeel, George Minnick, and Samuel Brandenburgh.[7]
