Genealogical Interests

I was born in Cambridge, Mass, 9/14/1948. Had an older sister who I never got to meet, premie. Had a younger brother and sister, both have since died and are posted. Mom & Dad have been gone for some time, they're here too. Graduated from Rockland, Ma. High school in 1966. Joined the Army right away (5 July 66) trained as a lab tech and Medic. First permanent duty station was the 3rd Field Hospital in Saigon, Vietnam. From there went to Germany. Served primarily overseas, 1 year in Vietnam, about 12 years in Germany, 1 year in Korea. Retired as an SFC (E7) in 1988. Married twice, first to a German gal, we're still friendly, 2d time, so far, for 40+ years. Five kids from both marriages, 1 stillborn, 1 grandchild, who is studying to be a Doctor and getting ready to graduate. from the first and 6 from the second. After retiring I attended and graduated from Tampa, Fl college with an Assoc. degree. Since "retirement" have worked as a Medical Asst, Lab tech & phlebotomist, X-ray tech & currently doing medical billing as well as managing a couple of clinics. (This feels like a resume'). Have been doing genealogy for about 25 years and have a good size collection of info and can prove to 11 generations on my Mom's side. I enjoy putting my feet on the ground and doing research, including cemetery "stomping" and will help whenever I can to locate grave sites and stones.

UPDATE: Have finally "permanently retired". Now I am ready to spend more time stomping cemeteries. Unfortunately, living here in Maine this activity is seasonal, but when the weather is decent and the ground is not snow covered I will be able to fulfill requests and add more cemeteries.

Hi Bill,

We’ve made some exciting changes to the Global Cemeteries Project. The sub-projects have been merged into the Global Project to help with Leadership and to facilitate collaboration.

Some roles within the project have changed. From now on, there are Project Coordinators for each continent, and one for Welcome and Integration, plus Team Leaders for each individual Country etc.

Please let me know if you’d like to stay on in the new project, if you’d like to continue in an existing role, and which team(s) you’d like to be on. Please also give me your e-mail address so that I can get you added to the project’s Google Group.

Many thanks,

Susie

Hi Bill,

I just wanted to touch base and ask if there are any questions you may have. Perhaps you have found retirement to be a case of everyone thinking you have time and they know just what you should be doing with it:)

We have a lively project going at United States Cemeteries which you may find of interest.

We do things a bit differently because we are a Wiki. If you have any questions about WikiTree, How to Use WikiTree is a good place to start.

Hey Bill,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page. Mags

Hi Bill,

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

The help pages give lots of information about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'.

Would be delighted. My name is Bill Paschal. I have been an amateur genealogist for over 20 years and enjoy the suspense, discovery and work it takes to research. I have taught Family Research & Cemetery Iconography to a group of Maine Seniors and enjoy putting my "boots on the ground" to find cemeteries and gravestones.
