Biography

Sibyl was born circa 1310 (David, her third son was vicar of Great Budworth by 27 April, 1350,[1] so if he was at least 21 then, her eldest son was two years older and she was 17 when she had him).

There are conflicting ideas about who this woman was. According to Booth's Pedigrees she was the unnamed daughter and heir of David de Norbury, son of Roger, lord of Norbury by his father's gift, third son of William de Bulkylegh, and she was married to Sir William de Huls, knt.[2] However, according to Leycester, she was Sibill, daughter of William, son of Hugh de Norbury.[2]

She and her husband were the parents of:

  1. William de Huls of Norbury;[2]
  2. Hugh de Holes, married Ellen Bruen of Picmere, 13 Edward III, granted lands in Little Neston in 7 Richard II;[2]
  3. David de Huls, vicar of Great Budworth, 24 Edward III [1350], was granted the wardship of Ellen Bruen in 36 Edward III, heir in remainder to Little Neston lands, 7 Richard II;[2]
  4. John de Holes of Norbury, heir in remainder to Little Neston lands, 7 and 20 Richard II.[2]

Research Notes

On 27 April, 1350, in Cheshire, David del Huls, vicar of Buddeworth church, John de Beston, parson of Alderdelegh church, William de Norbury, William de Bulkylegh and William del Huls made a recognizance.[1]
