Research Notes
POSSIBLY A DIFFERENT MAN, or POSSIBLY A SECOND MARRIAGE [research needed; a biography written in 1885 about James Lewis Mulkey which was included in a history of Benton County, Oregon,[2][3] mentions only the marriage with Mary Dinsmore. Birthdates of the children from both marriages and the children named in his will (only those with Mary) make it appear that there likely are two individuals conflated on this profile. Son Albert Greenberry Mulkey was attached to this profile as son because the birth and death dates match those of his father, James Lewis Mulkey (whose parents are unknown at the time of this writing)]
James married Mary Dinsmore in 1818 in Randolph County, Alabama. [source needed]

James's will was signed on 4 April 1855 and proven in court on 5 June 1855 in Benton County, Oregon, United States. In it, he bequeathed two 40 acre parcels of his farm to his two youngest daughters, Melinda P. Mulkey, and Margaret I. Mulkey, and the remaining 240 acres to his youngest son, Albert G. Mulkey. He bequeathed to "all my children, named as follows, John D. Mulkey, James L. Mulkey Junior, David B. Mulkey, Mary E. Liggett, Charles J. Mulkey, Margaret I. Mulkey, and Albert G. Mulkey, all my personal property of whatsoever nature or kind it may be...to be equally divided amongst them." [4]
