The Religious Society of Friends Project (aka the Quakers Project) has a new leader—me! I’m Jillaine Smith, and I’m excited to be joining project coordinator David Wilson in caring for Quaker research and improving Quaker profiles. I’m also doing a project check-in with each of our members.
We’ve been refreshing project pages and setting priorities for 2026. One key goal this year is to identify the Monthly Meeting(s) for each Quaker profile and add the appropriate category. If you manage or watch Quaker profiles, we’d love your help adding those categories.
You can find other ways to help here: Project:Religious_Society_of_Friends#Ready to Help?
If you have a Quaker-related interest you’d like to work on that isn’t listed, please let us know—we’d be happy to support it.
We also know that interests and availability change. We’ll be updating our project member roster at the end of this month, so please reply by then to let us know if you’d like to continue as a project member (and update your entry at Quaker Project Participants), or if you’d prefer to have your project badge removed. If we don’t hear from you, we’ll remove you from the member list.
Thank you for all you do to support WikiTree and Quaker research!
Jillaine
Congrats on your on your new project. I have to bow out of the Quaker project. I have found I am very good at finding names of Unknowns. Spending hours every day on them. At 71 now it keeps my mind sharp & I love the challenge. Please remove me from membership. I wish the best for you and the Quaker project.
Thank, Terry
We just changed the intent of the https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Profile_Improvement_Project category to be for sub-categories and free space pages only. We don't want any profiles to have the category. We will use badges to identify members of the Project. Would you remove it from your personal profile.
Thanks, Kay
thanks Tim

Are you descended from or connected to via blood the Embree family? Could we be kin?

Not sure I ever got back to you. We are distantly related, through our Marvin lines. 12th cousins once removed. Connection back in the 1500's. I don't know of any connection to the Embree family. I may have worked on an Embree profile. I do a lot of work on the Unknowns, have to source a lot when I am working on them. If you have a certain profile I can check.

Found the information on Ancestry.com, a very good source. I am on the Unknowns team so was glad I could find her last name at birth.

I came across your additions to Carolina (Unknown) Lindblom, which contained enough clues to find matching Swedish records, which I have added in the Research notes section of the profile. Working through it convinced me it was warranted to change her LNAB to Andersdotter - she had a gendered patronymic in the Swedish part of her life, although then she emigrated as Andersson. The profile is now orphaned (my watchlist is ever owerflowing and in need of culling). https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Andersdotter-15378
Thanks for your previous help with my Tree. I'm looking for Parents of 'William Chant' Born about 1849 in Saltley - Birmingham Death 1909 was Railway Coach Builder
Thanks

If you are related and want to chat, please feel free to ping me! Cheers, Crystal

What is the best way to determine the LNAB of Constance C. Rea, wife of John T. Rea (Rea-3065)? I don't have a profile for her because of the uncertainty about her LNAB. John was a business associate of my great grandfather, Theodore B. Ceruti (Ceruti-35), and I suspect that Constance was Theodore's sister, but I can't prove it. Do you have any suggestions on the next step?
Thanks in advance for any ideas you may have.

The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing a check-in with project members. Please review the following and respond to let us know that you are content with your current team or if you would like to be more involved.
The Project operates in a team structure. There are currently three participant PIP Teams -- The Maintenance Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and the Biography Team. There is also the Voyage Team which guides new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team.
You’re currently identified as a member of the Unknowns Team. Are you working on a particular group of unknowns? Are you happy with the Team you are on? If you are interested in working with a different Team, please let us know.
If you have not already done so, we invite you to join the email GoogleGroup. We use the WikiTree Discord server #profile-improvement channel for our project. Neither is required; we also use the Profile_Improvement tag in G2G for Project announcements.
We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project meet its goals. We would like to hear about the successes you’ve had and would also appreciate any feedback you have to help improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or via private message to one of us.
Sincerely,

As per your request I've added you to the trusted list for Mary Polly wife of Joseph Willis. My only interest in this page was because the identification of Mary's last name as "Witt". My interest here was mostly with Joseph Willis. After looking the page over I realized I had enough information that I thought I could refute her last name. As I recall the page seemed to be orphaned, so I temporarily adopted it. I have no long term interest in it. If you think Mary's lasts name really was "Witt", I'd be happy to hear why.

I just looked this morning. There's a whole lot of "U.K." and "Uk, and "unkn." and things like that. Maybe that list could be included on the current project for cleaning up profiles. What do you think?
Those are also on the list. Along with the X, XX, XXX, you see where I am going... Then the XXX..... LNU, MNU, as well as all the ones you mentioned and more. It is a long list.
I have been seeing a lot of people are no longer active.
We’ve started the March challenge here: March Connecting Challenge.
We’ve started the January challenge here: January Connecting Challenge. We are working toward a goal of 150,000 total profiles in 2022.
