Biography
Sir Ralph Leycester of Toft, Cheshire, (c. 1518-1572) was the oldest surviving son of Ralph Leycester (d. 1525; aet 37) of Toft by Eleanor, da. of Ralph Egerton.
He m. (1) Ellen, da. of Philip Legh of Booths, 4s. inc. William 4 or 5da.; (2) Jane, da. of Sir Hugh Calverley, wid. of John Edwards of Chirk, Denb.,0 ?1da.
Sir Ralph was the father of:
- William Leycester, son and heir;[1]

- Anne Leicester, m. Phillip Maynwaringe esq. of Pever, (Peover); Cheshire [1]

- Marie Leycester, said in Ralph's will to be contracted to marry Robert Venebls of Antrobus, younger son of Thomas; Antrobus [1]

On 18 September 34 Henry VIII [1542], Edmund Ravenscroft, son and heir of John, late of Betham, Lancashire, granted to Ralph Leycester of Tofte, in fee simple, messuages and land in Bexton and Lower Knottesford.[3]
"Rauff Leycester of Toft in the county of Chester knight" in his will, made on 23 February 1571 [now 1572], to which George Caulveley Knight, Edmund Trafford and Phillip Maynwaringe, esquiers, were overseers, he requests to be buried in the church or chauncell at Moberley and mentions family members:[1]
