Biography
Family #301 in the 1857 Grimm census.
This age is probably incorrect, off by at least six years.
Based on this birth year, his father would have been nine years old at the time of his son's birth. Even with a much older mother, it just doesn't seem likely.
There is no mother's name listed for him in the census.
There are several possibilities:
- Friedrich Daniel's birth year is incorrect, either a clerk or transcription error
- Friedrich Daniel is really Jakob Alexander Legler's younger brother, missing from the 1834 census
- Friedrich Daniel is the son of Jakob Alexander's unnamed wife and her previous, unnamed husband. Upon her death, Jakob Alexander adopted the boy.
For the time being, I am identifying Jakob Alexander as his non-biological father.
