Biography
Thomas Jefferson Leggett was the second child of nine born to Joshua A. Leggett and Jane Jean Guthrie. He was educated at New Hagerstown Academy in New Hagerstown, Carroll Co., OH. Thomas was elected in 1877 to the State Legislature where he served two terms. He was a teacher for several years and then became a farmer. He was a Presbyterian and a staunch Republican. He married Hannah A. Brown on Apr. 20, 1854 in OH. She is the daughter of John J. Brown nad Sarah Ann Mercer. Thomas and Hananh had six children: Alice Amanda, Emma Holmes, Cyrus Melvin, Lauren Brown, Charles Emmett and Joshua Willard.[1]
