Anselme was born in 1792, the son of Pierre Leclerc dit Francoeur and Theotiste Guichard dite Bourguignon. He married at age 27 to a woman about 13 years his junior, and started their family in Quebec. However, he moved the family to New Brunswick by 1827. Anselme worked as a farmer and passed away in 1866 at 74 years old.
