Paul is an entrepreneur and software engineer, born in Alabama, USA, on August 12, 1984, to Koop Lammertsma and Cynthia (de Vries) Lammertsma. He holds dual citizenship in the USA and the Netherlands. In 1996, he moved with his family to Soest, the Netherlands, where he completed high school.

Demonstrating an early entrepreneurial spirit, Paul undertook various software development and video production projects during his high school and college years. These included creating and selling educational software on CD-ROMs and producing videos of school performances and local events.

In 2003, he began his studies at Utrecht University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science in 2007. He then continued his studies in the Human Computer Interaction department for is M.Sc. graduate project under Wolfgang Hürst.

In 2009, Paul co-founded his first company, CrimsonBase. As its focus shifted to mobile development, the founders spun off Pixplicity as a new digital agency in 2011. In his capacity as co-founder and later Chief Technical Officer, Paul's role evolved from hands-on development to technical leadership. As an independent developer, he also created the popular puzzle game "Cryptogram," which has achieved over two million downloads.

A significant part of his work at Pixplicity involved long-term, embedded consultancy for key clients. He worked closely with the Amsterdam-based travel app Polarsteps, acting as an external technical lead to help shape their Android strategy and enhance the performance and feature set of their application. For the global digital production company Monks, he led research and development initiatives, building innovative prototypes and proof-of-concept applications. This work was at the forefront of user experience design, exploring the practical application of emerging technologies like machine learning, computer vision, and voice-activated assistants.

Paul entered into a registered partnership in the Netherlands, which lasted from May 11, 2016, to December 11, 2017.

In 2019, he joined Google and relocated to Zürich, Switzerland. He currently holds the position of Developer Relations Engineering Manager for Android. Paul has a permanent residency permit in Switzerland and lives in the district of Höngg with his partner, Maggie. He is fluent in English and Dutch and proficient in German.^[1]
