Pleasant Theodore Hughes was born about November 15, 1856, in Missouri, United States.

Pleasant died on March 11, 1940, in Essex, Stoddard, Missouri, aged about 83. ^{[7] [8]} He was buried in Zion Cemetery, Bloomfield, Stoddard, Missouri, United States. ^[9]
