Would like to apologies to a couple of colleagues who commented on recent post. Have just spent 7 weeks in Hospital and somehow only the basics remain of my already scant computer skills. I tried to point out that The LDS sites do not cover a lot of births marriages and deaths they hold on microfiche. For instance I researched a microfiche of Altham for Accrington place of rest from late 16th Century to 1766 when St James Church was built there are gaps but also a lot of information and I am sure there are many resources still being withheld from other areas

Hi John,

It is most likely the WikiGenealogist update you're referring to. To stop receiving those, go to the "My WikiTree" drop down menu, then "Settings". Once on the settings page, you can "unclick" the boxes next to the emails you wish to stop receiving.

Does anyone know how to get rid of unwanted and tenuous connections to ancestors . Every day I get emails on alterations to details of Hardwick relations whom I have never heard of. How do I get it to stop.

Hi John,

It's extremely important on WikiTree when it's discovered that two profiles have been created for the same person that you agree to merge those two profiles. If Young-20152 and Young-20151 are duplicate profiles they should be merged into one. Thanks!

Thank you for making contributions to WikiTree.

I noticed that you have been adding and/or editing people who were living before 1700. Here is a link to some WikiTree on editing those ancestors. It is very important to cite quality sources when you add/update the information. You may also want to go back and review the source information that you read when getting certified for pre-1700. 1700 profiles - http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Pre-1700_Profiles#When_Creating_Profiles Sources in general -http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sources Thanks!

Hi John,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.
