Robert Hofstadter is Notable.

Robert was a physicist. Among many honors, he shared the Nobel prize in 1961 with Rudolf Ludwig Mößbauer (1929-2011). Robert's work involved electron scattering in atomic nuclei.[1][2] Most of his career involved scintillation counters, particle scattering, and their applications in nuclear physics. Later in life he developed detectors for a gamma-ray telescope.

He was born in 1915 to Louis and Henrietta (nee Koenigsberg) Hofstadter. He married Nancy Givan in 1942, and they had three children, including author Douglas Hofstadter.
