Hi Danny,

One of our mentors created a tutorial for the GEDCOMpare process that others found very helpful. I hope that you will too.

Hi Danny

Thank you for adding your DNA Test to your profile on WikiTree. Getting Started with DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

DNA at WikiTree provides a visual way for you to find others who have tested and have the potential of having common ancestors. It normally takes 24 hours from adding a test, or adding a new ancestor, or ancestor’s descendant, for WikiTree to display your name and test results on your ancestors and their descendants’ profiles for potential cousins to compare results with.

Have fun!

Hi Danny, I see you added the Acadia tag and have Acadian roots, a good name Hebert. I am co-leader of the Acadian project and want to offer any assistance you might need connecting to your family. We have over 12,000 Acadians already profiled on WikiTree including many Heberts. Most people can be connected directly to existing profiles of their Acadian family when you get back into the 1750's or so. I'd be happy to look up any of the oldest Heberts in your family to see if we can connect you quickly.

If you use the search box at the top of each page, you can find all the profiles for a particular name that have already been created. This is a one profile per person site and we all share them so connecting to existing profiles is the way to go and making duplicates is a problem. If you don't find the one you are looking for and think someone needs to be added, it would be really helpful to contact me first.

Check out the Acadian project page for more information: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Acadians And this page for great sources: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Acadians_Project_Reliable_Sources

Hi!

Welcome! What HEBERT!?! What do you mean, Where the HEBERTS are from? Are you referring to before Acadia? Or Louisiana? France?

I do a lot of research on the Louisiana Cajuns.

I may not be signed into MY account. I'll reach back out later.

--Caroline My family if loaded with GUIDRYS.

Hi Danny!

I am pleased to welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

I would suggest starting with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration. Don't be afraid to ask questions in our G2G forum and get involved as much or as little as works for you. Be sure to check out the tabs at the very top right hand side of your profile, there is lots to discover!

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do!

Happy tree climbing
