Biography

1604 -- Bridget Harris was born at Ipswich, Suffolk, England. She was a daughter of John Harris and Bridget Unknown Harris. [citation needed]

She married Humphrey Bradstreet at Rattlesden, Suffolk, England. He was a son of Thomas Bradstreet. Humphrey and Bridget came from Ipswich, England in 1634 on the ship Elizabeth and settled in Ipswich, Massachusetts.

The Great Migration says she aged 30 when she was with her family enrolling at Ipswich on the last of April 1634 as passengers for New England on the Elizabeth [Hotten 280, 282].

Third Supplement to Torrey's New England Marriages Prior to 1700 says Humphrey Bradstreet married Bridget about 1625 in Ipswich. It cites The Great Migration 1:386. It provides no information on her last name at birth.

Father and mother are now detached. I'm looking into the Harris name for any source. Al

Any luck on the name sourcing? I reviewed Essex Antiquarian, nothing there. I've spent a lot of time reviewing parish registers and wills and have never seen a source for her maiden name. A few other edits needed, Humphrey was most likely baptized at Bentley (near Capel) and was the son of Humphrey "Sr" (of Capel), himself the son of Robert of Capel as I've described and sourced in the bio of Humphrey Bradstreet-2. Rattlesden is mentioned for this family but they don't seem to actually appear there. Wherever she was from, that might be where they got married and had their first 4 children since nobody's found them yet.

What is the source for her last name at birth and parentage? Anderson reports her as having an unknown last name in the information for her husband, Humphrey Bradstreet.

Please change the category 'Elizabeth, sailed 1634' to 'Elizabeth, 1634' as that is the correct category, thanks.
