Genealogical Interests

I have been working on my genealogy since about 2006. On WikiTree, I am a project coordinator for the Italy and Ambassadors projects. I am actively researching my Italian connections. I also work on my Québecois and English sides of the tree, too. If we are related, feel free to send me a message!

Biography

Chris Ferraiolo has Italian Roots.
WikiTree Ambassador
Chris Ferraiolo is an Ambassador for WikiTree .

WikiTree Week Attendee: 2025

I was born in northeastern Massachusetts and began researching my family roots on Ancestry.com in 2006. All my life I've heard stories from both my Italian side and my French-Canadian/American side. I decided to see what else I could find online and I was surprised to find a wealth of information! To this day it honestly surprises me how much information is out there waiting to be discovered.

My grandparents were always willing to give me all kinds of information to help me on my quest to learn more both sides of the family. I've learned some amazing things on this journey and made some amazing friends. Not to mention all the cousins I have found along the way!

Along with my genealogy hobby, I have a webcomic and a show on Youtube where I review comic books. You can find both here: starbolts.blogspot.com

The surnames I am most interested in researching are on my Italian side as there isn't a whole lot about them in the United States. They are:

  • Ferraiolo
  • Coppola
  • Tedesco
  • Gullo
  • Carrabs
  • Capobianco
  • Forgione
  • Penta

I also enjoy writing, drawing and running. Oh and my last name is pronounced "Ferry-Oh-Low". If you'd like to hear it go here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzXFq_m9hQ0

One Place Studies

I am studying various places my ancestors came from. On my Italian side, I have ancestors from these parts of Italy:

  1. San Pietro a Maida
  2. Gesualdo

In the summer of 2020, I started an Italians in Haverhill category based on the book by Patricia Trainor O'Mailley. Looking at how many relatives I had living in the city on both sides of the family inspired me to create a One Place Study based solely on Haverhill, Massachusetts. Check it out here: Haverhill, Massachusetts One Place Study

In April of 2021, I created a space page for the Italians in Haverhill category. Check it out here: Space:Italians_in_Haverhill.

In November of 2021, I created a one place study for Gesualdo, Italy. Check it out: Space:Gesualdo,_Campania_One_Place_Study.

In January of 2023, I created a One Place Study for Newburyport, Massachusetts. Space:Newburyport,_Massachusetts_One_Place_Study.

9 Jan 2026, Annnnnnddd mebbe a split second or two after I posted a Comment on PIP's Comment board about me having apparently missed the announcement himself was not hosting the Chat today, suddenly, abruptly, amazingly, YOUR notification about CHAT appeared on G2G ... which startled me. LOL. What can I say? I'm a ninja. =D I strike hard and fast and fade away into the night.

I messaged Pip about it after I saw his message about the thon in the last weekend chat. I checked the thon schedule and the host schedule and it is indeed next week. I hadn't even gotten my team roster list yet so I knew the thon was next week. I was confused for a moment. At least it's up!

posted by Chris Ferraiolo

Confusion abounds. It grows in the dark belows and behinds where and when clarity fails to complete the 'thon. Well, something like that. 😎

And given the number of bugs running loose in the WT computer ... if one or more 'thons don't end up '"crashing" ...

I can see you as a Ninja.😁 Just remember while jumping about even a Ninja can step on that expletive deleted straight pin that was lost in the shag carpet when the snouzer mixed breed blasted through, and note we do not discuss what the snouzer was running FROM ....😭

You are the only Ninja I've ever been even remotely acquainted with (on Planet Earth). And such acquaintance is "all in my head" and not in the Real World. Of course, I have not given up my fan-following of Yoda. But there's no comparison, each of you being unique Beings. And may many Irish-type blessings fall upon you. And may your sense of humor be centuries remembered.

Delightful take-off on the Old Classic 😃
  • T'was the night before Christmas and all through Wikitree,
  • the Rangers were on the lookout for evils unknown.
  • The Italy Project coordinator posted the blogs from around the internet
  • with care in the hopes that avid readers would soon be there.
  • The blogs he listed are sure to be a delight.
  • For Christmas is coming and these blogs are a sight!
  • 'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
  • Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
  • The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
  • In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
  • The children were nestled all snug in their beds;
  • While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
  • And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
  • Had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap,
  • When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
  • I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
  • Away to the window I flew like a flash,
  • Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

... and onward it flows

I'm impressed with the amount of energy and - lest we forget - amount of skill at writing, researching, explaining that you have the good fortune to posess.
  • I'm impressed also by your skill in navigating "foreign shores" websites ... I found them baffling and so do not tread among them anymore.
  • (if my spelling fails, blame it on the lack of an active auto correct which I disabled because it was driving me nuts correcting "{{FamilySearch|" to "{{family search ... ", which meant that I had to correct it either before or after Full Save ... I also may have typos which is a reflection of eyesight mostly. And the inopportunity of my aged tom cat.) [Inopportunity (noun) refers to the state of something happening at a bad, unsuitable, or inconvenient time, or a general lack of favorable chances to do something. It means an action, event, or request occurs at an unfortunate or ill-timed moment] [Inopportunity is either Murphy's Law or a kissing cousin of that bane]
  • So, I thank you for your contributions including your blog

Hi Chris. Yes! We are definitely related. I just checked on "Relationship to Me" and this is how we are related. I recognize all the ancestors as my confirmed relatives.

Chris and Jeannette are 7th cousins once removed through Marie Anne Michaud (1676-1755). She is one of our great grandmothers. in my case, through my paternal side. Makes sense; my surname at birth was Martin, French Canadian ethnicity. Also, Acadia and Scottish. Amand Martin is one of my great grandfathers.

I also have Italian ancient roots, most recently discovered in my Ancestry research.

I.am happy to have found your message and wonderful research. Your profile page is very well written. Thank you.

i found this page check it out... https://www.angelfire.com/ny5/clinton/FamilyNamePages/LESPERANCEPage2.html The contributors visited the supposed home town Dolmayrac and observed records first-hand. There are some conflicting observations but they feel very confident in their findings. happy hunting!

I have been working on pending merges for 2 days. You told me that they counted. I'm pretty sure I should have more than 68 in my team scores. Can you help me understand this?

Chris Ferraiolo
Hey, Melanie.

They should have counted. I'm not sure how the team scoring actually works because I edited more than 250 times. I think I might have missed the "status" button a few times. Not sure.

The pending merges don't have a status button. How can we figure out if they count or if they don't count?

Hi Chris! I'm Juan Manuel, you might know me from family history fanatics youtube's channel. I have -huge- italian roots, mainly from the north but in the south I just found out to have ancestry in Filadelfia -ex Castelmonardo-, Calabria (Surnames: Sganga, Destito, and Anello).

Also Have ancestry in Pescopennataro, Osimo, Valtellina and Oltrepò Pavese.

Hi, Juan!

I think I've seen you in the chat a couple times on the channel. I looked at the tree. You should definitely join us in the Italy project. =D It's a very good tree. Filadelfia is in Calabria and I have an Anello cousin. I haven't found the connection, yet. But, I do know that the town is relatively close to San Pietro a Maida and Jacurso. That makes me wonder.

Here's the Italy project join thread: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/864503/joining-the-italy-project-benventuti?show=1180316#a1180316

Hi, Chris my (very) northern friend!

Thank you for your participation in October 2020’s Source-a-thon. Your contributions helped us to clear over 57,000 profiles that needed sourcing. This makes our Shared Tree all that much better. Also, it's always great to yak with you during the live chats.

Keep up the great work!

Hi Chris, I would love to participate and better understand the project. North Italy is my primary area of interest and research (especially Piedmonte and Liguria), and I need to learn more about South Italy (particularly Campania). But I am happy to be of use anywhere the help is needed!
