Biography
The marriage bond for Sarah Dorsey and Edmond Cotton is dated 8 December 1797 in Nelson County, Kentucky; Charles Dorsey granting permission for Sarah to marry (Note: Charles does not state his relationship to Sarah). [1] Buried Eli H. Brown Farm Cemetery, Bloomfield, Nelson County Kentucky.[2]
Sarah Dorsey and Edmund Cotton are recorded as the parents of Robert Greenberry Cotton in the book "History of Perry County": "His mother [Sallie Dorsey] belonged to one of Maryland's finest families... one amongst her notable ancestry, it is due to say that Nicholas Greenberry, whose name her son worthily carried.... became a leader in the royal province [of Maryland]..."[3]
