Research Note

Given Name: Anna Sophia. Surname: The baptismal record's Damgård is the Danish reformed spelling of the older form Damgaard—which the family reverted to upon emigration to the Anglophone US Midwest. Anna's siblings further Americanized the name to Damgar; it is not known whether Anna ever used that variant; the mangled form Dangarr from her marriage record suggests she may have done.
