Biography
The biography for Phillip Cox is empty. What can you add?
I am interested in connecting with other family historians. I think it is important that everyone be able to connect to their family tree and know more about their ancestors, and that ancestors be remembered. I am open to mentoring anyone who could use some guidance.
I have been working on my family tree for five years now. I started when I retired in 2020 and took over the tree my sister had started in MyHeritage for her and her husband which had about 4,000 names at the time. That tree has over 66,000 names now, and is incredible. I also would compare my tree with the Ancestory family tree of my niece and her husband. Both Ancestory and MyHeritage are personal family trees not always sourced or correct.
My son asked "How do you know you have the right people?".
Through MyHeritage I became familiar with WikiTree, FamilySearch, and Find a Grave. All of these are global family trees, and free. My aunt gave me her research which she did before computers.
I started building my family tree in WikiTree, as it has the best features, is based on sources, and has real biographies. So far I have over 23,000 contributions to WikiTree. I also have over 800 accepted changes to Find a Grave and almost 400 changes to FamilySearch.
I feel that it is important to see the larger family picture, and to make sure the databases are correct and properly linked.
I rejoined Ancestory as it has the largest DNA data base, and found ThruLines by ancestor. I have been working to document all descendants of my ancestors. The tree just based on that DNA work is over 14,000. I have been mirroring my work based on DNA in WikiTree.
DNA has provided the evidence to answering the question as to are the people in my tree correct. Not only that it has allowed me to break walls in some cases to the next ancestor.
For any of the profiles I have created in WikiTree, be sure to review the sources links.

I think your William Lowry Holloway was the son of George Whitfield Holloway and Henrietta Mitchell of Bledsoe's Creek in Sumner County, Tennessee. I don't have documentary evidence of that, but it fits within a conceptual framework. My Holloways were on the southside of Sumner County on Drake's Creek. It's taken me a long time to build the fence between the two families, but I think the line you're working on is of the Bledsoe's Creek family. Happy to do what I can to help prove that.
Cheers, Joe

Thanks for adding sources!
There can be a bit of a learning curve to WikiTree, but once you figure it out, it is a great place to interact with other family historians.
By the way - I notice that you are using "FamilySearch Trees" as your source on these profiles. As we are a collaborative tree, it would be a great help if you could be a bit more explicit about your sources. For instance: If these are from a family bible or work done by another family member that you inherited or a birth or death certificate, giving specifics will help others know where the information comes from. Anything would be helpful.
Here is what our Sources help page says. It has lots of ideas: Help:Sources, Help:Reliable Sources, Help:Pre-1700 Profiles#Cite reliable sources, Inline Citations Detailed Instructions
Thanks for joining WikiTree. Looking forward to your contributions!

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

:May I say WOW since these additions of yours would have at some point in time absorbed your attention and efforts. An impressive effort on your part, in fact.
- I also took the liberty of adding a = Research Notes = section ref the materials on the memorial site.
- BTW, there is a conflict 😩 in the Place of Birth info tween the memorial site and this profile at WT which should be resolved.
Apparently you descend from Margaret grace and her mother Molly Tierney Jones. You don't show up in 23andme as a cousin. Perhaps its some marriage relation between a parent and Margaret Grace??? Have you uploaded DNA to GEDMATCH?

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.
Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.
Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.
Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
