Hannah S. Couch was born on February 5, 1826 in Cumberland County, New Jersey, United States, daughter of Asa W. Couch (1793–1867) and Rebecca Mulford (~1794–1865).

Hannah died on December 25, 1904 in Osborne, Kansas, United States, aged 78. She was buried in Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Osborne County, Kansas.^[3]

FINDAGRAVE

Hannah C. Applegate died at the home of her only son, Arthur A. Applegate, Sunday, December 25, 1904 age 78 yrs. 10 mo. 21 days. She was born in Cumberland County, New Jersey, February 4, 1826. She was converted early in life and Baptized, and became a member of the First Baptist church in Bridgeston, N.J. She was married to John T. Applegate Dec. 22, 1847. She soon became a widow indeed only one son was born to this union. After moving from New Jersey in 1877 to Osborne County, Kansas, she made her home on the quarter section of land she homesteaded near Cheyenne and became a charter member until the death angel on Christmas morning at 9 o’clock called her to her Heavenly home. She leaves a son and wife, and 8 grandchildren to mourn her loss. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all. By request of the deceased the writer was called on to conduct the funeral services; but owing to the severe blizzard, the funeral sermon will be preached some time in the future. - W. S. Prather.
