Biography
A Mathematician, Civil Engineer, Military Engineer, and Mechanical Engineer
Oliver was born in 1810 son of Lawrence Oliver Byrne and Mary Byrne.
"Although his obituary states that he “entered at Trinity College, Dublin, where he passed with distinction the various examinations,” it appears unlikely that Byrne graduated from or even matriculated at Trinity." [1]
Oliver married on 21 July 1845 at London, England to Eleanor Rugg, daughter of John Rugg.
"By 1849, Byrne and his wife Eleanor had left London and moved to New York City, ... Not long after his arrival, Byrne filed his intent to become a naturalized United States citizen. Over the next decade Byrne and his wife spent time in New York City, Philadelphia, and Jersey City, New Jersey." [2]
Oliver died 9 Dec 1880. [3]
