Biography
Marie Brun was born about 1658 in Port-Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France, daughter of Vincent Brun (abt. 1611–abt. 1686) and Renée Breau (abt. 1616–bef. 1678).[1]
Marie was listed in the 1671 census of Port-Royal, age 12, with her parents and her four siblings.[2]
Marie (18) married François Gautrot (19) (born about 1657 in Port Royal, Acadie; son of François Gautrot and Edmée Lejeune) in 1677 in Port Royal, Acadie.[1]
Their known son was François Gautrot (abt. 1678–1759).
In the 1678 census, newly married François and Marie appeared with their only son, François.[3]
Around 1683, the widowed Marie (24) married Abraham Bourg (20) (born in 1662 in Port-Royal; son of Antoine Bourg and Antoinette Landry) in 1683 in Port Royal, Acadie.

- Marguerite Bourg (abt. 1685– ) .
- Claude Bourg (abt. 1688–1751) .

In 1686, at Port Royal, Marie BRUN, aged 24, was living with her husband, Abraham BOURC [sic], aged 25, and their two young children: Jean [recte Jean Baptiste], aged 2, and Marguerite, aged 6 months. They owned 1 gun and were living on 6 arpents of cultivable land with 10 cattle, 10 sheep, and 8 hogs.[4]
In 1693, at Port Royal, Marie BRUN, aged 35, lived with her husband, Abraham BOURG, aged 31, and their five children: Jean Baptiste, aged 9, Marguerite, aged 7, Claude, aged 5, Pierre, aged 4, and Marie, aged 2. She also lived with her mother-in-law, Anthoinette [sic] LANDRY (widow of Anthoine [sic] BOURG), aged 76. The household owned 1 gun and lived on 26 arpents of cultivable land with 12 cattle, 20 sheep, and 8 pigs.[5]
In 1698, at Port Royal, Marie Brun, aged 40, lived with her second husband, Abraham Bourg, aged 36, and their eight children: Jean Baptiste, aged 15; Marguerite, aged 13; Claude, aged 11; Pierre, aged 9; Marie, aged 7; Michel, aged 5; Charles, aged 3; and Joseph, aged 1/2. Marie's son, François Gautrot, aged 20, also lived with her. The family owned 2 guns and lived on 16 arpents of cultivable land with 12 cattle, 20 sheep, 12 hogs, and 60 fruit trees.[6]
In 1700, at Port Royal, Marie Brun, aged 42, lived with her husband, Abraham Bourg, aged 38, and their five children: Jean Baptiste, aged 16; Claude, aged 12; Pierre, aged 11; Marguerite, aged 14; and Marie, aged 9. The family owned 1 gun and lived on 26 arpents of cultivable land with 10 cattle and 16 sheep.[7]
In 1701, at Port Royal, Marie Brun, aged 43, lived with her husband, Abraham Bourg, aged 39, and their eight children: Jean Baptiste Bourg, aged 18; Claude, aged 14; Pierre, aged 12; Michel, aged 9; Charles, aged 6; Joseph, aged 3; Marguerite, aged 16; and Marie, aged 10. The family owned 1 gun and lived on 10 arpents of cultivable land with 14 cattle, 17 sheep, and 3 hogs.[8]
In 1703, at Port Royal, Marie Brun, aged 45, lived with her husband, Abraham Bourg, aged 41; 5 boys and 3 girls. The family included 4 arms bearers. [9]
In 1707, at Port Royal, Marie Brun, aged 49, lived with her husband, Abraham Bourg, aged 45; 3 boys 14 or older, 3 younger boys, and 2 girls 12 or older. The family owned 1 gun and lived on 8 arpents of cultivable land with 24 cattle, 28 sheep, and 12 hogs.[10]
In 1710, at Port Royal, Abraham Bourg, aged 48, lived with his wife, Marie Brun, aged 52; 5 boys and 1 girl. [11]
Marie died on April 13 1736 and was buried the next day. It was written in the burial record that she was 75 years of age.[12][1]
