Sandy Bruce is a part of US Black heritage.

Sandy was born about 1822.

The marriage between Sandy and Eliza was recorded on June 11, 1865 in Chariton County, Missouri, USA. Their children were listed: Hampton Bruce, George, Elizabeth, Henry, Martha, Ann Martha.[1]

In the 1880 census Sandy (age 58), Farmer, was the married head of household in Bowling Green, Chariton, Missouri, United States.[2]

In the 1900 census Sandy (age 81), Farmer, was the widowed head of household in Bowling Green, Chariton, Missouri.[3]

Slave Owners

After the death of Lemuel Bruce his slaves were divided between his two children:

Further research needs to be done to know which of the above two inherited Sandy.

Research Notes

He was a brother of the first Black U.S. Senator, Blanche K. Bruce. Other brothers were Alpheus, Calvin, Henry Clay, and James J. One Slave owner was William Bruce.[4]
