Biography
William was born in 1812. He was the son of Thomas Baynard. William Michell Baynard born at St Peter Liverpool, baptized 13 Oct 1812 at Madron, son of Thomas. William Mitchell Baynard of Penzance married Lucy Goodman otp on 17 Feb 1835 at Clifton, Gloucs. “The Court for Relief of Insolvent Debtors. On the eighth day of April, 1840, the filing of the schedule of William Michell Baynard, formerly of Market-jew-street, Penzance, Cornwall, first, linen and woollen draper, silk mercer, haberdasher, glover and laceman, afterwards of the same place, journeyman to a linen draper, then of 13 Harford place, Bristol, Somerset, clerk and warehouseman & late of the Blossoms Inn, Lawrence Lane, Cheapside, London, out of business and out of employ; a prisoner in the Dentor’s Prison for London and Middlesex” [Penzance Gazette, 6 May 1840]
In 1841 William 45 was a draper living at Chatterton Square, St Mary Redcliff, Bristol, with Lucy 29, Ann 3 and William 10 months. In 1861 Wm N Baynard 18 was a commercial traveller born at Madron living in Winslet Villa, Bristol St James ad St Paul, with Lucy 44 born at Wisher, Leics, Ann 23 born at Penzance, WR 20 mariner born in Britol and a servant. , “Deaths. Baynard. Feb 8th., at Ramsay, of heart disease, Mr William Michell Baynard, of Hendra Villa, Bristol, one of a well-known and long-established family in Madron, and for 27 years the representative of the firm of Messrs Cooper, Box, and Co., of London, aged 67.” [Cornishman 12 Feb 1880] The will of William Michell Baynard commercial traveller who died 8 Feb 1880 at the White Horse hotel in Romsey, left probate to Lucy Baynard of Hendra Villa, Sydenhal Hill, Bristol. “Deaths. Baynard. At Hendra, Edgebaston, Birmingham (the residence of her daughter), March 22, Lucy, relict of Mr W.M. Baynard, (late of Penzance and Bristol) aged 75. [Royal Cornwall Gazette, 1 April 1887]
