• Sarah Bastable was born on 11 May 1804 in Fauquier County, Virginia].^[1] the oldest of eight known children and four daughters of George and Lucy Moxley Bastable.^[2]

• On 22 December 1829, when she was twenty-five, she married Minter Bailey in Lewis County, Virginia.

• She bore him eight known children, six sons and two daughters, including a son whom they named Irving.

• On 28 January 1888, when she was eighty-three, she died in Lewis County, West Virginia, of old age complicated by vascular heart disease of ten to fifteen years duration.
