Evea Frances Applegate was born on February 8, 1896 in Osborne County, Kansas, United States, daughter of Arthur Agustus Applegate (1850–1916) and Ella Frances Knapp (1865–1949).
Evea died on September 18, 1984 in Topeka, Shawnee, Kansas, aged 88. She was buried in Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Osborne County, Kansas.[1]

Evea Frances Applegate was born February 8, 1896, in Osborne County and died Wednesday, September 18, 1984, in Topeka following an extended illness. She was the seventh child born to Arthur and Frances Applegate, Osborne County.
She graduated from Osborne High School in 1914 then taught two years in the Osborne County Schools. In 1920 she graduated from the Salina Business College and then worked six years for Western Union at Salina. In 1927, she accepted a job with the Beech Oil Company, Abilene, as a bookkeeper. She remained there for 20 years.
In 1946, she moved to Washington, D.C., and worked for the federal government until 1951. In 1952, she moved to Topeka and worked for the Supply Depot until her retirement in February 1961.
She had been an active member of the First Baptist Church, Topeka, since 1952, and took an active interest in several of the church organizations. She served three years as a volunteer in the hospitality shop at Stormont-Vail Hospital and she was an active member of the YWCA.
In 1980, she moved to the Presbyterian Manor where she resided until the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by her sister, Mildred R. Prince. Topeka; three sister-in-laws, Florence Applegate, Topeka, and Blanche Applegate and Faye Applegate, both of Luray; six nieces and two nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held at the Cheyenne United Methodist Church, Luray, on September 20 at 2 p.m. with burial in the Cheyenne Cemetery.
