| Planned use | This property will be used in an existing web service that provides identifiers for academic papers, authors, and institutions.
The service is currently operational, and we are expanding it to include academic conference data. KISTI Conference ID will be used to uniquely identify academic conferences in Korea, enabling users to retrieve conference metadata and access cross-linked identifiers through the service. |
| Formatter URL | https://doi.or.kr/linking/data/search/conf/$1 |
| Country | South Korea (Q884) |
| Single-value constraint | yes |
| Distinct-values constraint | yes |
Motivation
[edit]The KISTI Conference ID is a unique identifier for academic conferences in Korea, issued by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI).
KISTI maintains highly reliable and structured academic metadata, but currently, there is no Wikidata property for referencing this identifier.
To improve the accuracy and consistency of information on Korean academic conferences and to enable better data integration, I propose the creation of a property for the KISTI Conference ID.
This property will help connect conference records in Wikidata with KISTI’s datasets, supporting more comprehensive and interoperable academic data management. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by KISTI Data (talk • contribs) at 09:01, November 18, 2025 (UTC).

IRDI is defined in
- ISO 6523 Information technology – Structure for the identification of organizations and organization parts
- ISO 29002-5 Industrial automation systems and integration - Exchange of characteristic data - Part 5: Identification scheme
- ISO/IEC 11179 (Q3146900) Information technology - Metadata registries (MDR) - Part 6: Registration
As you can see from "domain", it applies to all sorts of things in industrial data exchange. It is used in at least 3 major data initiatives:
- IEC Common Data Dictionary (Q60740694). This is an open set of dictionaries by IEC. The examples with links come from here
- ECLASS (Q1274291). This association publishes a commercial dictionary of product classes and attributes
- Asset Administration Shell (Q136039421) that uses ECLASS as a source of properties.
I have previously posted two proposals that talked only of the "root code" eg ABT545 or AAO259. I withdraw them in favor of this proposal:
- Wikidata:Property proposal/IEC CDD for electronics: lists a number of IEC CDD dictionaries.
- Wikidata:Property proposal/IEC CDD units for units of measure
Although the structure is defined by ISO standards (see structure descriptions at Q136702232#P973), two forms seem to be used:
- IEC: like 0112/2///62720#UAA594 made of parts org/standard#code (version is present in each item page but is not used in URLs).
- https://qudt.org/schema/qudt/iec61360Code uses the same form to link QUDT units to IEC CDD
- ECLASS: like 0173-1#02-AAO259#004 made of parts org#kind-code#version
The provided regex tries to capture these forms. What remains unchanged is code [A-Z]{3}\d{3}.
As for formatter URLs, only IEC has such, and they depend on the standard (sub-dictionary) and kind of term. Here are the prefixes from the examples above.
- https://cdd.iec.ch/cdd/iec61360/iec61360.nsf/TU0/
- https://cdd.iec.ch/cdd/iec61987/iec61987.nsf/ListsOfUnitsAllVersions/
- https://cdd.iec.ch/cdd/iec62720/iec62720.nsf/Units/
As discussed in the related prop proposals, we'd need a pretty smart resolver for this.

[edit]"Fichier partagé de données d’autorité du patrimoine culturel et scientifique luxembourgeois" (LUDAP) is a collaborative platform dedicated to managing and sharing authoritative data on Luxembourg's cultural heritage. its mission is to centralise and disseminate reliable, high-quality information, thereby contributing to the preservation of Luxembourg's cultural heritage. On launch it will contain about 1.000 deceased persons relevant to Luxembourg. It will continuously expand, adding more persons and eventually (historical) place names, and collective agents (organisations) relevant to the country.
LUDAP will soon launch and we want to share our knowledge widely, including on Wikidata, where often our records are more precise and sourced than items on the same entity on Wikidata.

Support. Hi! As the link is a handle, perhaps the last level, the suffix or, will suffice. The first part of the link is the Naming Authority, so it can be part of the format link, for example https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/$1Ucriesidelplata (talk) 12:38, 22 September 2025 (UTC)

Meetup.com has an event page,

That has two elements
Meetup.com Event Group Name: impacthub
Meetup.com Event ID: 309773586
You can get to that event currently by doing this https://www.meetup.com/_/events/309773586/ so the event id itself is globally unique.

[edit]Motivation
[edit]Used as a primary source for many articles in Japanese Wikipedia for program, related to NHK (Q212128).ならちゃん (talk) 08:58, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
- There is a strong precedent for creating external IDs dedicated to broadcast programme databases.
- For example, P827 (BBC programme ID) is used to identify programme records provided by the BBC website and systems.
- The proposed NHK Archives Portal Broadcasting History ID serves the same purpose but applies to Japanese broadcast programme records, and no existing Wikidata property covers this database.

[edit]Creating a dedicated property for this identifier will make it possible to reliably link these records to their authoritative source and connect them with related entries in other databases, enabling richer data integration and improving discoverability across cultural heritage collections such as Belgian Art Links And Tools and the Flemish Heritage Database (currently in development).
The creation of this property is motivated by the recent migration of the current database of masterpieces of Flanders (Topstukkendatabank) to a new database system that has yet to be made publicly accessible.
Once made public, the new database system will retain the URL structure of the existing public interface, as referenced in: “Source" and “Formatter URL”. All records in the existing database will have their current in-use ID replaced by the new UUID as displayed in "Examples 1, 2 & 3". – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jozefdvl (talk • contribs) at 14:23, August 13, 2025 (UTC).

[edit]NeoDB (Q136475687) is an open source project and free service to help users manage, share and discover collections, reviews and ratings for culture products (e.g. books, movies, music, podcasts, games and performances) in Fediverse (Q30325419). NeoDB.social is the official instance of NeoDB. --Steven Sun (talk) 08:43, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- It can be a supplement of Douban film ID (P4529) because it records some items that are not included in Douban film ID (P4529) due to Internet censorship in China (Q836854) (such as The Chinese Mayor (Q20751343)). --Steven Sun (talk) 09:05, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

[edit]It can probably be NeoDB Item ID, as based on its code, all item types (movie/game/book/...) share same id space, and use /item/<id> will redirect to the actual url.

Motivation
[edit]We have author IDs but what if we want to link a work, or a specific passage of a work? We're better of just providing a generic CTS URN (which is besides used by a number of different sites hosting editions of Greco-Roman works.
An example of this would be giving the exact 'path' of the passage where Thucydides mentions this concept: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q639493

[edit]
Comment @AddyLockPool: This sounds like a good idea. The proposal needs some work though:
- datatype should be external-id - this is an identifier for a piece of text (and we don't have a URN datatype in Wikidata anyway)
- Will the http://data.perseus.org/catalog/ prefix work for all these URN's? If so it can be used as formatter URL
- More importantly - your examples should show a Wikidata ID (or Commons Media file) that will be identified by the given URN's - see other property proposals. People often use the {{Statement}} template to make this clearer.
- Good luck with this proposal! ArthurPSmith (talk) 17:55, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hey there, thanks for the support!
- 1. That should be sorted (and sounds like a good idea, I'm sure if Wikidata ever got a URN datatype they would be easy to 'convert' (as the 'text suffix' coincides with the URN)
- 2. Yes, it is very much so (links 'encoded' with URNs are designed to be straightforward to construct after all)
- 3. Yes of course, if I get the time I will! AddyLockPool (talk) 18:14, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
Concertzender ID

| Planned use | At the Concertzender, we are currently working on the reconciliation of the entities in the Concertzender metadata with the entities on Wikidata and we intend to then add the appropriate values for this new property on Wikidata. We hope to be able to add those values within the next couple of months. However, the Concertzender website will at the same time undergo a renovation which may mean changes to the values of this property, so we might decided to wait a bit with adding the values on Wikidata. This is also the reason why we have not included restrictions on the values of this property in the proposal nor a formatter and a match pattern, we would like to add those at a later stage once said renovation has been completed. |

Motivation
[edit]The Concertzender is a Dutch online broadcaster and recording producer of classical music, world music, jazz, opera, pop and mixes of these styles.
At the Concertzender, we are working on mapping the entities in our metadata to their counterparts on Wikidata in order to improve our services by leveraging external open data sources. On top of this, we want to publish the mapping on Wikidata using this new external identifier property to allow anyone to find, through Wikidata, relevant Concertzender programs (some of which include our own recordings of concerts).
We are initially focusing on the case of person entities (which include composers and performing artists) but have plans of extending the use of this property to other kinds of entities such as musical genres, instruments, etc.

Support the idea ;
On hold until the expected identifier changes. Jean-Fred (talk) 07:57, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Jean-Frédéric. Thank you for reading the proposal.
- If possible, we would like to get this property created independently of the possible changes on the Concertzender website. I initially left out some details but after edits by you, @Mbch331 and me, the proposal is now complete, in accordance with the current state of the website. Would you approve of moving this one and remove the 'On hold'?
- A related question: am I right in assuming that after the creation of the property it will still be possible to change the allowed values, formatter URL, etc, if needed? Cayjd (talk) 17:35, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- I've come around to think that it's indeed better to keep this on hold, as you recommend @Jean-Frédéric. See the thread just below this one for some discussion about this. Cayjd (talk) 18:21, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
Support for the idea, but indeed also
On hold till the new identifier structure is known, otherwise we might need to deprecate the property and create a new one or fix all values. Mbch331 (talk) 17:32, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Mbch331, thank you for reading the proposal. My reply to the comment by @Jean-Frédéric contains my thoughts after seeing your changes. I propose that we discuss in that thread. Cayjd (talk) 17:37, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- If the identifiers change (so the clara-schumann part), then we rather wait, because changing the values on all items is a lot of work. If it's only changing the regex and formatter url, then there's no problem.
- I see that you've changed the identifier to programma_componist/clara-schumann, but clara-schumann is more logic of you're only adding composers. If you're planning to add other entities as well or planning to do so in the future it's more logic. But if the programma_componist part changes when the website changes we again rather wait. Mbch331 (talk) 17:52, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- About waiting: we do plan to wait until we have clarity about the changes to the website before uploading any values to Wikidata. The question is whether we should also wait with creating the property. Thinking about it, I see now that it'd be better to wait with that too: otherwise anyone can start adding values and we wouldn't want that. So, I now support myself the 'On hold'. Cayjd (talk) 18:17, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- If a property is created, it is expected to be used. We don't want unused properties. So creation will have to wait until the new values can be added. Mbch331 (talk) 18:19, 20 May 2025 (UTC)

- Another point: I've taken inspiration from the Property_proposal/Yale LUX ID proposal and reworked the definition of the property values: they will now contain an initial string that corresponds to the kind of entity (on the Concertzender side), initially always 'programma_componist/', followed by a unique identifier for the entity among all the entities of that kind, e.g. 'clara-schumann'. This way we can use the property for multiple kinds of entities, instead of creating a new property for each kind. While it seems that there is no clear consensus about whether this is better than the alternative (see also: Property_proposal/LUX_person_ID, I got the impression that this is the more popular choice. Please feel free to comment here about this point. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cayjd (talk • contribs).
- If you are planning on adding different type of entities, than that's a smart move. So you can ignore that part from my reply above. The rest of my reply still is valid. Mbch331 (talk) 18:01, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- Clear, thank you. Cayjd (talk) 18:07, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- One-property vs several things is indeed unsettled and depends also on the case at hand. For example the TVTropes proposal we realized we could not neatly separate entity types, and that one property was better. For LUX, I can see some people think 10 properties is a bit much to manage. If you would expect to have only 2 or 3, it’s not as daunting. To me it would depend also on whether the different entity types are similar − like, if the other is let’s say conductors, then it’s somewhat similar to composers (both would be human) ; if it’s orchestras, concert halls, or instruments, it’s a wholly different kind of entity, which would make Constraints very difficult to use. As a counterpoint, we have 12 properties for MusicBrainz, and I think that works well. Jean-Fred (talk) 19:13, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- Another example: we have 8 properties for MobyGames, and that was very welcome when the database was revamped, with formatter URLs changing for some entities (but not all!) and two entity gaining different ID systems − we could deprecate only two of the properties for 2 new ones, without impacting the others.
- Metacritic is another example − a single property was used for a very long time, and that bit us when the database changed. VG project then spun out separate properties to salvage the situation. Jean-Fred (talk) 19:22, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Jean-Frédéric, thanks a lot for giving this some thought and sharing these ideas. We will think more carefully about this point. The fact that the proposal is on hold gives us some time to do so before we rework it and put it up for consideration again.
- Of course, feel free to share any other insights if you'd like to do so. Cayjd (talk) 14:21, 21 May 2025 (UTC)

- @Eihel: It's not just for the authors: as said above, "The website uses the same identifier for authors and narrators" ;-) --Horcrux (talk) 14:41, 10 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Horcrux: Ok, but there are narrators who do not have any work of their own, so they have no place in this property proposition. Example: Audrey d'Hulstère has no works by her pen. See example 6 : https://www.storytel.com/authors/-394247 does not work too. Otherwise the property must be renamed, the formatter URL (P1630) and the regex must be replaced. Also, the links do not work without a language indication in the URL. Cordially. —Eihel (talk) 15:38, 10 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Eihel: URL https://www.storytel.com/authors/-394247 works for me (but maybe it's just guessing my language through the IP I'm connecting with), but I have no problem in specifying a language tag in it. For what concerns the label, my initial thought was to use "author" for the label and "narrator" as alias, but maybe it could be a better solution to name the property "Storytel author or narrator ID". Finally, I don't see any problem in having one default formatter URL and a secondary one, as long as the ID is recognized under both the URLs (i.e. it shows the person's name in both cases). --Horcrux (talk) 17:59, 10 February 2025 (UTC)

Strong oppose @Horcrux: There is a cookie that allows you to get to the Italian page (storytel.com/it/authors), but the link to the proposal does not exist. When you arrive, you must first choose one of the 26 available countries. Once the country is chosen, the destination URL disappears for the home page. And once again, narrators who are not writers have an empty author page, like those mentioned before (Audrey d'Hulstère or Nicolas Riedel); only the narrator pages are filled, https://www.storytel.com/it/narrators/nicolas-riedel-394247. So, as I said, the link from the source to the narrators is not useful: you have to- change this proposal or
- correct the proposal or
- make another proposal only for the narrators. Cordially. —Eihel (talk) 20:20, 10 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Eihel:
Unfortunately I still can't see the country problem because, I think, accessing the website from Italy I don't have any possibility of changing country/language (I guess for copyright reasons).[I just trued with the "en" tag, which apparently doesn't exist, but other tags (like "in", "es", etc.) work indeed. Anyway, apparently, still I don't see any way of changing country/language without manually editing the URL.] I also tried the private mode or accessing via other browsers, so my problem are not cookies. Anyway, I set all the URLs to English, so I hope we're happy on this side.- Regarding the other point raised: this property stores IDs, not URLs. Having two properties would just be redundant, as the website uses the same ID for both authors and narrators (whether it provides or not useful information in some cases is secondary to me). If you want to add some further metadata, you could suggest using some qualifiers (e.g. applies to people (P6001)). --Horcrux (talk) 09:33, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hello Horcrux
I replaced the links with the Swedish language, because the site was created in Sweden. The only English-speaking country is for the Indian page (https://www.storytel.com/in). - For the second problem, if you don't want to make a second property, fine, the problem is still the same. The best fix would be to include the languages in the URL formatter, because authors and narrators are only in certain languages. So there is only one possibility left, narrators are taken into account:
- en label = Storytel author and narrator ID
- desc en = identifier of an author or narrator on the Storytel site according to the language
- same thing for other languages
- allowed values = (be|br|bg|co|dk|eg|fi|fr|de|id|il|in|is|it|mx|nl|no|pl|sa|sg|kr|es|se|th|tr|ae)\/(authors|narrators)\/[1-9]\d{1,6}
- formatter URL = https://www.storytel.com/$1
- single value constraint = no
- source parameter identical to what is currently there by changing the language
- If a site offers blank pages, Wikidata is not intended to recover bad IDs from poorly made sites. Cordially. —Eihel (talk) 22:31, 12 February 2025 (UTC)

Oppose per previous proposals Wikidata:Property proposal/Plus codes and Wikidata:Property proposal/Google Plus code. Mahir256 (talk) 18:49, 8 May 2025 (UTC)- This is pretty much just a coordinate system, identifying an area on Earth, not identifying anything that would have a Wikidata item. The location/business details are just the closest nearby on Google Maps. coordinate location (P625) and related properties would work just fine for the given motivation. -wd-Ryan (Talk/Edits) 17:05, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
Oppose The property can be calculated with coordinate location (P625). – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kdkeller (talk • contribs) at 12:20, 24 May 2025 (UTC).
Comment I'm mixed on this. Technically these are not the same as coordinates, as these codes represent a rectangle on a grid, rather than an exact point. In some parts of the world these are used as street addresses (example), and if you just blindly translate from lat/lng to a plus code, you might not get the exact same code that is officially recognized/posted/published. Typically we try to put our P625 coordinates in the center of a building/place, whereas I'd imagine that an officially-used plus code might be positioned near the entrance or mailbox. One solution would be a new property as proposed, but we'd need to require a citation showing that this code has some level of official use. I don't love that though; perhaps we should just put the plus code into street address (P6375) in places where it's used like that. –IagoQnsi (talk) 00:35, 18 July 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Because I see Wikidata:Property proposal/BBC News topic id , I guess CNA in Taiwan will be useful, considered that the CNA is a big daily news agency. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Saimmx (talk • contribs) at 23:19, June 18, 2025 (UTC).
Discussion
[edit]
Comment I don't know if it makes sense to use this for /newstopic/ URLs as there don't seem to be that many according to the source URL provided. I think I would support, however, a property for the numbers in the /tag/ URLs by analogy with Hankook Ilbo tag ID (P13230). Mahir256 (talk) 04:49, 19 June 2025 (UTC)
- Well, the earliar newstopic as far as I see is "10", which is "ebook" (電子書 兼顧環保與時尚). According to the pattern, topics in CNA will have four thousands newstopics according to the Isreli srtick.
- But I agree with your view of /tag/ URLs, which is more stable (2 for "101" and 22588 for "Iran") - should I propose a new property? Or can we decide CNA tags in this proposal? Saimmx (talk) 19:56, 19 June 2025 (UTC)

Motivation
[edit]Given that the images of album covers are copyright-protected, they can't be hosted on WikiCommons. While some Wikipedia projects host cover art under fair use in their own Wikimedia instance many Wikipedia projects don't do that and thus don't have album covers. I think that a good portion of Wikipedia projects would welcome a template that automatically loads available album covers from the Cover Art Archive if those are interlinked in Wikidata.
Outside of Wikipedia, other data users can also be interested in cover art and it's useful to have the link in Wikidata, so that data-user from whom using the cover image would be fair use can do so.

[edit]This property aims to distinguish between IDs for persons and groups in the database of SIK-ISEA. P781 had previously been used for both, but there are several reasons to move to new identifiers, outlined in detail in https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property_talk:P781#c-PB_(SIK-ISEA)-20250629064200-New_identifiers. --PB (SIK-ISEA) (talk) 18:40, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- I think 174 is perhaps too low to make a new property worthwhile — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 20:47, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
- P781 had also been used for groups (also for each of the examples) but the new proposals for five separate SIK-ISEA properties suggest a proper split between persons and groups, so we need a property for the groups, otherwise we have no way of linking them.
- Note that the renaming of P781 from "SIKART ID" to "SIKART person ID" had only happened in February 2025, the changes to the formatter URL in January 2025, effectively narrowing the scope to just persons, but that did not yet provide a solution regarding the entries for groups that already were using this property. As a result, since January 2025 all of the links for groups created with the new formatter URL are broken.
- In July 2017, the constraints added to P781 specifically allowed both the classes "human" and "group of humans" and those constraints remain unchanged so far. The changes of early 2025 both in naming and formatter URL break that, however, and that's one of the things we're trying to find a solution for. PB (SIK-ISEA) (talk) 07:35, 12 July 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Linking entries of documents from the SIK-ISEA database to Wikidata. Last time I checked, none of the documents were on Wikidata so far. The aim is not to do big batch inserts but start with a curated selection. --PB (SIK-ISEA) (talk) 19:19, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Could you fix the examples above please? They all say "subject" — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 20:50, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
- That's intentional as they are not on Wikidata yet. So I'd first create them if I can link them to a property instead of doing it in two steps., if that makes sense. PB (SIK-ISEA) (talk) 21:49, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
- What is the justification for adding these documents to Wikidata? Normally we don't add things just because they are in some database; there are notability requirements. Will they be used as references for something? ArthurPSmith (talk) 14:34, 22 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for asking. These documents are of interest to the GLAM (galleries, libraries, archives, museums) side of Wikidata.
- Going through the examples:
- https://recherche.sik-isea.ch/sik:document-14141782:
- This is one photograph from a collection of photographs that show the cultural actors who shaped the scene of art and exhibition making in Switzerland in the 20th century. They can help visualize networks, collaborations, exchange of ideas.
- https://recherche.sik-isea.ch/sik:document-13275639:
- This comes from a book of sketches by Giovanni Giacometti (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q689411) who is a well-known and widely shown artist and the subject of many scholarly works. Some of the sketches led to the creation of paintings which we also link (and which would get a SIK-ISEA work ID). They give an insight into the artistic process by showing which sketches remain just sketches, which lead to a painting and how the first sketch differs from the painting.
- As an example for a sketch that led to a painting, see https://recherche.sik-isea.ch/sik:document-13275683/ and https://recherche.sik-isea.ch/sik:work-9722970/.
- https://recherche.sik-isea.ch/sik:document-12919180:
- This is one letter from a collection of letters addressed to Ernst Stückelberg (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q329974). The collection helps to understand the wide network of artists and other actors in the cultural field he was in contact with. At the link, we also provide a transcript of the letter so viewers can also read the content of the letters, as well as a summary of the content. PB (SIK-ISEA) (talk) 10:31, 1 August 2025 (UTC)

Comment You shouldn't set ready on your own proposals; generally property creators look for some sort of positive support, not just lack of opposition. On this one, the proposal definitely isn't ready because your example links don't match the formatter URL. Also there seem to be some extraneous space (' ') characters in the template values. Please double check the proposal template. Otherwise, this seems fine to me, so count this as

[edit]Admirable Façades is an online database showcasing remarkable architecture in Brussels, including detailed information about architectural styles and individual buildings. For this reason, I am only proposing an external ID for architectural styles, where the URLs are consistent across all language versions. Jhowie Nitnek 16:23, 7 November 2025 (UTC)

Notified participants of WikiProject Authority control The database Qalamos – Connecting Manuscript Traditions (Q132160190) collects very accurate data about African and Asian manuscripts, a theme about which Wikidata surely has many holes and imprecisions; it also has data about 14601 somehow related to these manuscripts (authors, copyists, owners etc.), part of these entries link to GND ID (P227) so the match with Wikidata could be easy. --Epìdosis 22:03, 17 November 2025 (UTC)

Comment The formatter URL's won't work with the ID format you are proposing. Are there just 3 languages involved here? It could be 3 properties I suppose. ArthurPSmith (talk) 16:55, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
- Note that Vikidia has a central resolver that takes their language:name format and resolves to the right language server. ArthurPSmith (talk) 16:57, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
- There is 3 languages that are working, the others (like Spanish, Italian, Arabic) are suspended and/or don't work, like: https://es.wikimini.org/; maybe we can create items for French Wikimini, English Wikimini and Swedish Wikimini so they can be used better with applicable 'stated in' value (P9073) - like in Vikidia article ID - applicable 'stated in' value. [edit]eLIBRARY Document Number (EDN) is an universal identifier for all documents at eLIBRARY.ru. They include academic articles, monographies, proceedings, and books of conference abstracts. At present more than 45 millions items have EDN. In plans all items having DOI will have also EDN, thus this ID will be more complete than DOI (with addition of Russian magazines, which don't have DOI yet). Wikidata should be a hub linking DOI and EDN identifiers. P.S. It's different from (and not replaces) Infovarius (talk) 11:57, 25 February 2025 (UTC)

National Library of Spain Alma ID (BNE v2.0)
[edit]Motivation
[edit]The National Library of Spain appears to previously have used the library catalog system Symphony from SirsiDynix which issued a control number that for persons began with the prefix XX and then was followed by 4 to 7 numbers. This number is National Library of Spain SpMaBN ID (BNE v1.0) (P950). Recently, they appear to have moved to a new library catalog system called Alma/Primo from Ex Libris. They posted an announcement regarding a catalog change in January. The new system is using an 18 digit all-digit number. The old number, which formerly was coded as "BNE" in VIAF, is now coded as "SpMaBN". This new 18 digit number is now coded in VIAF as "BNE". See Example 1 VIAF, Example 2 VIAF, Example 3 VIAF. I propose we also include this new control number as we do the old control number. --Chchowmein (talk) 07:04, 10 May 2025 (UTC); edited 05:29, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]
Comment this seems a good description of the situation (an addition: not only authority records but also subject headings have been converted into Alma, I have added an example); I have just one clarification to ask before supporting: do we have ready a way to massively add the new ID converting the 290k values of old National Library of Spain SpMaBN ID (BNE v1.0) (P950) we have? Doing it consulting VIAF, given the absence of VIAF dumps and the monthly limit of 10k connections to VIAF, is not feasible; so is there a dump of BNE containing all the old and the new IDs? --Epìdosis 08:00, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- In general, maintaining two IDs at the same time is challenging, so I hesitate creating a new ID in these cases: the conversion seems to be still ongoing, the old ID is the only way to access datos.bne.es and the new ID is the only way to access Alma, but probably in the future it will be possible to access both using one of the two IDs. Considering the instability of the situation, I think we should wait creating this property and try to coordinate with BNE as much as possible to understand if the new Alma ID will become the standard one or, as in the case of NUKAT (NUKAT ID (P1207)), despite the change of ILS the old ID will be kept as the standard and stable one. @Bargioni: is trying to have updates from BNE. Epìdosis 14:07, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
- That seems prudent, I just assumed a new ID would be easiest to facilitate the migration (and prevent edits from mixing in the new number to the old ID). To your question about the BNE dataset, I don't know the answer and was hoping someone else with more familiarity would chime in. But, I mentioned this at WikiProject Authority Control, this authority record download page from BNE provides their latest release as a dataset that begins with three column names:
id|id_symphony|otros_identificadores|– notably (from a quick skim) it seems all entries have a new 18 digit number in the id column; the occasional entry has the old XX-prefixed code in the second column as" XX#######"(with a leading space) but this appears rare unfortunately. I'll echo the suggestion we look for a source that has both. Chchowmein (talk) 23:01, 14 May 2025 (UTC)

- In the Authority Search search box dropdown (when English is chosen in the UI) they list: Keyword (all fields), Personal Name, Corporate Name, Meeting Name, Name, Subject, Geographic Term, Genre/Form Term, and Uniform Title. I added the record for science fiction (Q24925) as an example. Chchowmein (talk) 04:32, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
Support: While this likely needs to wait for a list that includes both identifiers to be found, a new property should be created once that is done. Susmuffin (talk) 14:45, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- I agree, but only provided that BNE guarantees that the new ID is stable (which we are not certain as of now): we already have cases of authority IDs that have not been created because the library said that the ID wasn't stable (e.g. Wikidata:Property proposal/NUKAT (non-VIAF) ID) and I would like to avoid this happening after the property is created. - @Bargioni: asked again, I think we are very near to an answer; next week probably we should have some clear hint of how to move forward. Epìdosis 21:16, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
- News from BNE: it seems (this is not a definitive answer, because further checks are needed) that authority records created by BNE after August 2024, when they changed software, have only the Alma [new] ID and not the Symphony [old] ID; we should get a final confirmation, and possibly a list of all correspondences between old and new IDs, after 18 August. - We had a new answer recently: we may receive the list of the correspondences between old and new IDs; however, the stability of these new IDs seems not guaranteed in the middle term (months, years?), so I highly recommend to continue waiting for more information from BNE. [edit]
Notified participants of WikiProject Latvia the collaboration of the National Library of Latvia (Q1133733) (NLL) has intensified in the last year, after the workshop of last October (Wikidata:WikiProject Latvia/NLL 2024). The property used in Wikidata to link to the catalogue of NLL is National Library of Latvia ID (P1368), which reaches both authority records of persons, organisations and places, and topical terms. The Open Data Portal of NLL, https://dati.lnb.lv/, provides a more advanced visualisation of the authority records of places and of the topical terms, i.e. a subset of the IDs covered by P1368; however, dati.lnb.lv cannot be used as a simple third-party formatter URL (P3303) of P1368, since 1) it covers only a subset of it and 2) it applies to this subset three different prefixes. For this reason, if we want to link from Wikidata to dati.lnb.lv, we need an apposite property; and we also need a mechanism (probably a bot) keeping this new property in sync with P3303, so that if a new value of dati.lnb.lv is added/removed, the corresponding value of P1368 (which always exists) is added/remove as well, and if a new value of P1368 is added/removed, the corresponding value of dati.lnb.lv (if existent) is added/removed as well. Provided that there are users desiring to take care of this bot-maintenance, I think having this new property aside of P1368 would be a valuable addition. --Epìdosis 21:57, 16 September 2025 (UTC)

Motivation
[edit]This external identifier refers to consolidated legislation and treaties of the Netherlands, as published on the governmental website 'wetten.overheid.nl'. Navigating to a regulation based on the BWB number will redirect to the latest consolidated version, making the property link dynamic, which I think is most suitable for the Wikidata database. Changes within a law do not require a new Wikidata object, and changes in existing laws are done by 'wijzigingswetten' (changes law) which can be referred to by their own BWB number.
BWB numbers are persistent, even if the legislation is retracted.
If it were required to be able to refer to specific versions or validity dates, this would be possible by using the g-parameter, for example:
https://wetten.overheid.nl/jci1.3:c:BWBR0004627&g=1990-10-01
This then redirects to the most recent consolidated version before the date specified. I have not included this in the regex as of now

Comment It is not an ID for individual acts, but an ID for translated versions. For the Attorneys Act (Attorneys Act (Q11486967)), for example, the newest translation is 4610, but there are two other versions, 3636 & 1878. When a new translation comes in, a new ID will be assigned. Also note that not every amended version has a translation. I think it would be not quite useful as a main statement property, but it is possibly OK as a reference property. --Mzaki (talk) 17:03, 23 November 2025 (UTC)

Motivation
[edit]Archaeological National Register (Q124828308) (RAN) is Moldova's recently approved registry of archaeological locations, superseding the sublist of archaeological locations from Registry of monuments of Moldova protected by state (Q108443136) (on Wikidata the latter are tagged with instance of (P31)former archaeological monument of Moldova (as previously defined in the Registry of state protected monuments) (Q106378344)).
All items in RAN are uniquely identified using an ID. The ID (e.g. 1700/9600.S2) is comprised of:
- the CUATM unique code (CUATM unique identification code (P13182)) of the city/village the archaeological location is located in – e.g.
1700(note that if P13182 starts with 0, the first digit is disregarded in RAN)- in some cases, the unique code of another city/village, separated from the first by a forward slash – e.g.
/9600
- in some cases, the unique code of another city/village, separated from the first by a forward slash – e.g.
- a dot –
.- if item is a so-called "sector", the capital letter S –
S
- if item is a so-called "sector", the capital letter S –
- a simple count that starts at 1, to disambiguate multiple archaeological location in the same city/village – e.g.
2
The name of this ID eventually needs to be properly disambiguated from RAN ID (P2845), a similar kind of identifier from neighboring Romania. Pinging @Strainu who had worked on that ID.

Conditional support I do support the creation of the property. But I do suggest changing the name from RAN code to RAN ID (Moldova) or RAN ID (MDA) to disambiguate it from RAN IDs from other countries. Conversely, I suggest changing the name for the existing RAN ID (P2845) to 'RAND ID (ROU)' @Strainu. Mtrognitz (talk) 10:17, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
Oppose Hello Gikü
This seems interesting, but I don't understand something. I do not understand anything about the source: one link does not seem to provide the examples precisely and the second link (archive) seems empty. In this case, how to fill items from an external source to WD? In the examples, the codes must be linked to something, both in a source and in WD; if nothing is linked, this proposition cannot be a property. What is "Bălți I" for example? What is "2897–2904, 2906, 2907, 2910– 2916, 2919–2925"? Where can I see these sectors? What and how are these terms linked? The regex is understandable without adding the term "(regex)", but I do not see how to approve this regex without a complete external list of codes linked to tangible things. I don't want to look for those 11156 IDs, I prefer to see those IDs in front of me. Cordially. —Eihel (talk) 12:37, 10 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Eihel, thanks for your input!
- In the provided link to the law, do you see a text all the way at the end "anexa"? If you click on it, does it download a DOCX file for you? That file contains the table of codes; I have converted it in a CSV for myself, intending to prepare for an OpenRefine effort.
- Didn't understand your point about linking... do you mean the items are not available on Wikidata? If so, like I mentioned in the request my plan is to create the items and populate the new property in them from the get-go. If that's not allowed, I can create the items first and then add the property. Gikü (talk) 15:03, 10 February 2025 (UTC)

[edit]The existing codes under P442 is actually for statistical use before or now, they are not literally "China administrative division code", plus their publisher NBS stopped publishing them and made them for internal use only in 2023, this means we can no longer update them. As codes for P442 can be used for index but has a slightly different defining rule for digit 7-9, I suggest we should create this property to collect continually updated MCA codes. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hamish (talk • contribs) at 19:52, June 26, 2025 (UTC).

[edit]This property will store the official institution identifier from the Unified State Electronic Database on Education (ЄДЕБО / EDBO), which is used in Ukraine to uniquely identify educational institutions of all types — including universities, colleges, vocational schools, and secondary schools.
This ID is publicly searchable via the official EDBO Registry at https://registry.edbo.gov.ua/ and used for managing licenses, accreditation, admissions, and student records.
Adding this identifier to Wikidata will enable:
- automatic generation of links to official registry pages for schools and universities;
- verification of institutional data against authoritative government records;
- integration with infoboxes in Wikipedia (especially Ukrainian and Russian);
- assistance in reconciliation and deduplication of educational institutions.
All values are numeric and unique. They can be verified against the registry.
Formatter URL explanation
[edit]The EDBO registry uses two different URL patterns depending on the type of educational institution:
- For institutions with 1–4 digit IDs (e.g., universities, colleges, vocational schools):
- For institutions with 6-digit IDs (e.g., secondary schools):
Since Wikidata does not support conditional formatter URLs, the default university-based URL (`https://registry.edbo.gov.ua/university/$1/`) is used in the formatter URL field. Consumers (such as Wikipedia templates or Lua modules) are expected to apply logic based on ID length to display the correct URL.

ConLang Code Registry code

Motivation
[edit]Currently, many conlangs (constructed languages) that don't have official ISO 639-3 codes have an ISO 639-3 code (P220) value listed anyway, for a code issued by the ConLang Code Registry; they generally take the format Black Speech (Q686210)ISO 639-3 code (P220)qbsqaa-qtz as "reserved for private use", which means that anyone can use them for any purpose, and still be compliant with the standard. The fact that the ConLang Code Registry has issued codes in this range does not mean that these conlangs have actually received ISO 639-3 codes, though; it just means that a completely separate organisation has decided to issue codes which just-so-happen to be in ISO 639-3's private use range.
This is obviously intentional, as it allows them to be used as language codes without conflicting with the official ISO standard, but that doesn't mean we should have statements which claim they're actually part of the standard. Simply saying that the code is "issued by the ConLang Code Registry" doesn't make it clear that the ConLang Code Registry is not entitled to issue ISO 639-3 codes, and therefore obscures the fact that the code isn't actually part of the standard in the first place (i.e. that the statement is wrong). Outside of conlang communities, these codes see almost no use, and they may conflict other privately-issued codes used in other communities.
To get around the issue, I'd like to propose a separate property for the ConLang Code Registry, so that these codes can be listed without polluting the data for those who only want information on official ISO 639-3 codes. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Theknightwho (talk • contribs) at 12:47, August 16, 2024 (UTC).

- @ArthurPSmith Yes - 252 active codes and 3 retired ones according to https://www.kreativekorp.com/clcr/. There are 520 codes in the private use range (
qaa-qtz), which is the theoretical maximum, and growth is quite uneven, with some years seeing very few codes added (2 added in 2021), while others see many (32 added in 2023). Codes are retired if they're replaced by genuine ISO 639-3 codes. Theknightwho (talk) 21:18, 16 August 2024 (UTC)

Oppose I don't think this would be a good idea.
It's not a coincidence that the ConLang Code Registry (CLCR) codes are in ISO 639-3's private-use range, the whole point is that they are private-use ISO 639-3 codes for use as ISO 639-3 codes.
ISO 639-3 provides the set of private-use codes for people to use how they want, which means that users assign their own meanings. It's true that other places may assign conflicting meanings, but that's why those statements all have a qualifier saying who gives it that meaning. Conflicts shouldn't be a problem either, we can use constraints like single-best-value constraint (Q52060874) and/or add separator (P4155) to the constraint.
The existing statements shouldn't pollute the data if you're using it correctly. The items with private-use codes also have a no value statement set to preferred rank to indicate that they have no official code, and if you're looking at all statements, you need to take ranks and qualifiers into account for the data to be meaningful anyway.
The real issue here is: How should we model usage of private-use codes? This isn't limited to CLCR or even ISO 639-3 (e.g. XK is widely used as the ISO 3166-1 code for Kosovo, Qaag is used by Unicode and CLDR as the ISO 15924 code for Zawgyi, U+F8D0 is the Unicode codepoint normally used for the Klingon letter "a"), so I don't think it makes sense to have a property specifically for CLCR's private-use ISO 639-3 codes. We should have a model we can apply to private-use codes in general instead.
- Nikki (talk) 09:23, 28 August 2024 (UTC)- @Nikki These are not ISO 639 codes, though - these are codes assigned by another body which have been intentionally designed to match up with ISO 639's private use range. It's not a question of qualifying the codes or setting no value as a preferred rank - it's the fact that it is factually wrong to say that they are ISO 639 codes at all, and they shouldn't be listed there at all. Oppose I think that listing the ConLang codes in the ISO namespace promotes their use and thus interoperability; even though they are not part of the ISO standard. Secondly, if a code is used by ConLang and another organization, we want to know this "conflict", and the best is to see it in the ISO namespace, with qualifiers as shown above --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 05:48, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Timenote.info is a free, international, multilingual encyclopedia of people, places, and events. It allows anyone to create and contribute information about individuals, including biographical details, family connections, related locations, and associated events. This property links Wikidata items to corresponding person profiles on Timenote.info, facilitating the exchange of information and enhancing the discoverability of biographical data. [edit]Important classifier for technical documents.
Nominally "DCC" is a more generic classification code as shown at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEC_61355: eg FB is "Flow diagrams". This DCC is shown eg on the page of piping and instrumentation diagram (Q1890459)Identity numberD00043, but the identity number is the more specific one (to distinguish it from process flow diagram (Q912333) and other flow diagrams).
I think "IEC DCC" is short and memorable, so I'm proposing it as one of the aliases for this prop.

We could use a single property "IRDI" but the formatter URLs are different for all standards in the CDD. So we'd need a custom resolver based on the prefix (or rather, the standard id, eg 61360_4 --Vladimir Alexiev (talk), 06:14, April 22, 2025

Motivation
[edit]IEC CDD is an online database of product characteristics, properties, units of measure, etc. In Wikidata:Property_proposal/IEC_CDD_for_electronics I listed all parts of that database (IEC standards). Here I'm proposing a prop for this part:
- https://cdd.iec.ch/cdd/iec62720/iec62720.nsf Units of measurement (IEC 62720)
I don't know why this tree doesn't expand, but there are links between units and unit lists, allowing us to discover more. Also, QUDT has 1215 units, 211 quantityKinds and 4 physical constants with property qudt:iec61360Code, also expressed as link qudt:informativeReference, see https://github.com/qudt/qudt-public-repo/issues/1092.
IEC CDD codes are all International Registration Data Identifier (IRDI), eg 0112/2///62720#UAA607 for the first example (or 0112/2///62720#UAA607#001 with version number).
Unfortunately quantityKinds and physicalConstants use a slightly different prefix (Units vs ListsOfUnitsAllVersions), eg (hover over the URLs):
- mass flow rate (Q1366187) has two IRDI coming from two IEC standards:
- 0112/2///61987#ABT545: lists 31 units (i.e. unit of mass flow rate (Q126978213))
- 0112/2///62720#UAD107: lists 34 units, including the "SI coherent derived unit"
- Avogadro constant (Q6203): 0112/2///62720#UAD015
Perhaps it's best to use a single property "IRDI" for:
- IEC 62720 units,
- IEC 62720 quantityKinds and physicalConstants,
- other IEC standards defining units and quantityKinds,
- other IEC standards covered by IEC CDD
But the formatter URLs are different for all standards in the CDD so we'd need a custom resolver based on the prefix (eg 62720 vs 61987), and even for units vs quantityKinds and physicalConstants (but I don't know how to distinguish them, except by Wikidata item type).

- Yes, we'd need:
- either a single "smart" formatter that should examine the start of IRDI and the entity type, and dispatch to various IEC CDD URL patterns,
- or a series for formatters with applicability constraints, eg class is "quantity kind" vs "physical constant" (this proposal) vs "eletronic equipment" Wikidata:Property_proposal/IEC_CDD_for_electronics vs etc etc etc

The site can have a great number of profiles on it to make up for it, but I don't see any content creator counts here. Edit: 50 random people is nowhere near enough. For a proposal to pass it needs 100 notable people minimum. As an example if you assume 2% of the people on the site would qualify for a page on russian wikipedia, that would still mean you need to show there is 5000 content creators on the site. The numbers aren't that important, you get the idea. Infrastruktur (talk) 23:42, 12 March 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Let's try it one more time with examples. I still expect a few hundreds of usages in the near future for already existing items. Here is a list of 60+ names I personally can recognise without any proper search ability (paywal + it is mostly closed for search engine indexes): User:Putnik/boosty. —putnik 19:41, 1 June 2025 (UTC)

| Alexey Tsvetkov (Q4503430) | alexeitsvetkov |
- However, I am not sure if this is enough or not. I would not oppose to any decision. Андрей Романенко (talk) 21:01, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
- You really want this, huh? Fine. I'll change my vote to
Support since I'm such a Goody Two-Shoes. Also expecting the number of notable people to reach 100 at some point if it hasn't already. Infrastruktur (talk) 06:06, 2 June 2025 (UTC)

[edit]While CRICOS Codes identify Australian providers and courses available to learners on a student visa, this does not cover all accredited/recognised education providers and programs in Australia. These are recorded on the National Register of Higher Education Providers and Courses and the National Training Register. This property will enable accredited providers in Australia to be linked with their Government accreditation.

An important database of sustainability standards.
- Also points to 10 registries of accredited/certified facilities, some with 10k items: eg https://www.standardsmap.org/en/registry?cbrid=SLCP
I made entries for StandardsMap (Q136548185) and 3 of the standards/accreditation schemes: given as examples above, and further described at at Q136548185#P4876. --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 15:29, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
A colleague found where we can download standards and their related info in JSON:
- All standards: https://api.production.standardsmap.sustainable-trade.org/api/standards?client=NO%20AFFILIATION .
- Even more info per standard: https://api.production.standardsmap.sustainable-trade.org/api/standards/496/all?preview=false or https://api.production.standardsmap.sustainable-trade.org/api/standards/30/all?preview=false
Any takers to make a Mix-n-Match catalog, or just to import all these standards? --Vladimir Alexiev (talk)

[edit]Marking the ID as ready, there has been no oponents to the proposal Pmt (talk) 17:09, 5 November 2025 (UTC)
Otherwise, this seems fine to me, so count this as
Support when the template has been fixed up. ArthurPSmith (talk) 00:44, 14 November 2025 (UTC)

Motivation
[edit](It's the very first time I propose a property)
The Universal Esperanto Association (UEA; see Universal Esperanto Association (Q12565), based in the Netherlands, is the main organisation for Esperanto speakers. Its online official catalogue (katalogo) assigns an integer identifier to each work or publication. This property would store that identifier to facilitate linking Wikidata items to the UEA catalogue.—super nabla(🪰 msg) 22:35, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
