@Jheald, Kirilloparma, Lewis Hulbert, Tæppa: WhatPub will be closing on 25 August like what happened to Canmore. I guess we can just move this to CAMRA pub ID (P13516). Lucywood (talk) 21:58, 29 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

The URL match pattern @Back_ache: attempted to add should work [1].
For example The Eagle and Child (Q82190) has WhatPub pub ID (P12496) OXF/C-15 , which can be injected into the CAMRA URL as https:// camra.org.uk/OXF/C-15 in order to redirect to the working URL of https:// camra.org.uk/pubs/eagle-child-oxford-156969 . Tæppa (talk) 13:49, 30 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
The ~250 [2] regional CAMRA branches are still issuing new "WhatPub" codes, which CAMRA then turn into a unique number for their website, so it's still in scope for Wikidata. I would say the only constraint should be that an item also has CAMRA pub ID (P13516), and the issued by (P2378) statement for WhatPub pub ID (P12496) could be remodelled to reflect that it's regional branches, not CAMRA, that come up with the code. This could be done by creating a Q Item for each branch and using catalog code (P528) to identify their 3 letter code, which I'd be happy to do if a correct format can be agreed on. Tæppa (talk) 13:57, 30 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
The website now says whatpub.com will automatically redirect to the "CAMRA website" (camra.org.uk) from October 1st. Therefore the formatter URL (P1630) of https://camra.org.uk/pubs/$1 will be correct. The URL match pattern (P8966) of ^https?:\/\/(?:www\.)?whatpub\.com\/pubs\/([A-Z]{3}\/[\w-]+)\/?(?:[a-z\d]+(?:\-[a-z\d]+)*\/?)? and ^https?:\/\/(?:www\.)?camra\.org\.uk\/pubs\/([^?#\/]+) may both be valid, although I'm not able to decipher them to verify they are specifically correct.
For documentation purposes, I've just checked the Swindon Branch of CAMRA (as a random example), and they seem to link to pubs using the WhatPub pub ID (P12496) formatted to the camra.org.uk website. for example on their map ([3])The Green Dragon Public House (Q26647086) is hyperlinked with the URL https://camra.org.uk/SWN/241 , which re-formats to https://camra.org.uk/pubs/green-dragon-marlborough-138649 , where CAMRA pub ID (P13516) gets their by re-formatting https://camra.org.uk/pubs/138649 .
