Haile Selassie was Emperor of Ethiopia from 1930 to 1974, and famously visited Castle Wemyss in June 1936.

The Daily Record reported on the visit of Haile Selassie to Wemyss Bay in 1936 with what it claimed was the first colour photograph of a news event to be reproduced in a newspaper.
