Gotham is suffering its most intense winter in years; the entire city is encased in snow and ice. In this forced slumber, Mr. Freeze is feverishly working on the only thing he truly cares about, curing his beloved Nora. He has finally made a breakthrough and just needs one more element. He attacks an advanced genetics laboratory to steal the final component for his cure.
Victor achieves what he's been fighting for all these years: he has halted the progression of Nora's illness and wakes her up. Victor and Nora are reunited, but it's bittersweet. Nora is happy to be with her husband again, but is shocked to see his transformation into a "supervillain." Victor is desperate to reconnect, but after all this time and all the horrible things he's done, that might not even be possible.
Victor's emotional reunion with Nora is cut short when she is kidnapped by an unknown group of assailants. Victor is in a cold fury and uses his intense intellect and brutal tactics to hunt down the men responsible. All the while, a nagging question hangs in the background: Does he truly want to be with Nora again as Victor? Or is he more comfortable in the role of the terrifying Mr. Freeze?
Mr. Freeze is one of Batman's most interesting villains, and this story will be a new shining example of why Victor is deeply sympathetic, multidimensional, and terrifying. This is a story of revenge and redemption that will expand Freeze's world while illuminating new aspects of his character.
