Our Services. Vinted allows registered individuals (Users) to buy and sell second-hand items to each other. In some countries, professional sellers (Pro Sellers) can also sell items to Users. In addition to providing the Vinted platform, we also offer the following services:
- Hosting: we act as an intermediary between buyers and sellers/Pro Sellers - we don’t buy or sell Items ourselves and aren’t a party to any transactions.
- Buyer Protection: is mandatory and automatically applied for a fee when you buy an Item from an individual seller using the buying button. It provides you with a refund policy if an Item is lost, damaged or significantly not as described. Customer Support will assist you during this process and follow our Refund Policy.
- Buyer Protection Pro: is mandatory and automatically applied for a fee when you buy an Item from a Pro Seller using the buying button. It provides you with a refund policy if your Item is lost or damaged. Customer Support will assist you during this process, and will also help to facilitate your right of withdrawal.
- Other paid optional services: additional services are available to purchase for buyers and sellers/Pro Sellers, which are described below.
No connection to Pro Sellers. We do not have any financial connection to Pro Sellers.

Additional requirements for Pro Sellers. Pro Sellers are also solely responsible for registering with the business registry in their country (if applicable) and for fulfilling all social and tax obligations related to their professional activity. Check Vinted Guide for Pro Sellers for practical information relevant to you. UK consumer protection laws, including right of withdrawal, apply to consumers buying from you. You can find more on consumer rights here.
5 If you want to sell items on Vinted
Overview. Selling on Vinted is free, and we try to make it as straightforward as possible. Optional paid services are available to enhance your selling experience, but are not mandatory.
Make sure you can sell the item. First, check that you’re allowed to sell the item and follow the rules set out in the Terms and Conditions. Some of the key requirements to sell an item are having the legal right to transfer ownership of the item you want to sell to the buyer, and not selling prohibited items – please check our Catalogue rules to see what you can and cannot sell on Vinted. If you’re a Pro Seller, read and follow the additional legal obligations found in the Vinted Pro Terms and Conditions.
List it on Vinted. You can then list the item for sale by following these simple steps:
- take and upload a photo and write a description which are not taken from the internet and accurately reflect the item’s quality and appearance, including any defects or alterations. This ensures transparency and helps manage buyer expectations. Have a look here for examples about what information you might be asked to provide, and
- if you’re a Pro Seller, your description must also follow applicable laws on product safety and product compliance, including all mandatory information about the manufacturer (or the economic operator), labelling and marking of products.
Wait for a buyer. Once your item is listed, a buyer can buy it directly or ask you for a different price. Your item is sold once a buyer clicks the buying button and their payment is accepted.
Optional services for sellers. You can choose to purchase optional services to help increase the visibility of your items to buyers, such as Bumps and Wardrobe Spotlight. We’ll let you know how much a service costs before you purchase it and how long the service will be active. For details on how we calculate fees for these services, check our Price list.
6 If you want to buy items on Vinted
How to buy an item. You can buy an item from Vinted in a few simple steps:
- Click the buying button
- Select a payment method and delivery option
- Click the paying button on the checkout page
Keeping your purchase secure. For every purchase, the following funds you pay will go in a separate escrow account until your transaction is completed. You can check how we calculate these fees in our Price list:
- the item price,
- the shipping fee, which is added at checkout based on your chosen delivery method,
- a Buyer Protection fee or Buyer Protection Pro fee, and
- if selected, fees for optional services you choose to purchase.
Both Buyer Protection & Buyer Protection Pro are mandatory and automatically applied for a fee when you buy an Item using the buying button. In both cases, it is not an insurance or a legal protection service and is in addition to all other legal rights or guarantees you have.
- Buyer Protection applies when you buy an Item from an individual seller. It provides you with a refund policy if an Item is lost, damaged or significantly not as described. Customer Support will assist you during this process and follow our Refund Policy.
- Buyer Protection Pro applies when you buy an Item from a Pro Seller. It provides you with a refund policy if your Item is lost or damaged. Customer Support will assist you during this process, and will also help to facilitate your right of withdrawal.
Buying from a Pro Seller. If you buy from a Pro Seller as an individual consumer, UK consumer protection laws apply to you. You can find more on consumer rights and online sales here. By law, Pro Sellers are responsible if an item doesn’t match how it was described on Vinted, regardless of whether the defect is easily apparent or hidden. You can find out more about your rights here and what other warranties Pro Sellers are legally required to provide you. You’ll need to discuss defects directly with the Pro Seller because they’re responsible for this, not Vinted. You can also check Pro Sellers Policy for any additional policies that may apply to you.
If you buy an item offline or outside of Vinted, we are not responsible for that transaction. That purchase is made at your own risk and will not be covered by any protections we offer for transactions made on Vinted.
Optional services for buyers. You can also choose to purchase the following optional services (where available) when buying an item:
- Item Verification Service: for eligible non-electronic items, we will use all commercially reasonable efforts to confirm an item’s authenticity based on objective criteria, including our brand knowledge and information available to us.
- Electronics Verification Service: for specified electronics, we check the item's attributes, condition, functionality and authenticity based on objective criteria, including brand knowledge and information available to us.
7 How to pay for items and services
Ways you can pay. We offer several payment options for items or our services. Any funds in your Vinted Wallet will be automatically used as your primary payment method, otherwise you can choose to pay via a debit or credit card or from other payment method offered on Vinted.
Payments made via third parties. We use authorised third party payment service providers to process any payment transactions.
8 Item ranking on Vinted
What influences item ranking. Vinted’s search results are determined by a combination of several parameters, all designed to present users with the most relevant items. More details on how items are ranked can be found here, but the main parameters that influence the ranking of search results are:
- Item attributes: how long ago the item was uploaded, the price and the brand.
- User engagement: the number of impressions (views), clicks, or how often an item is added to favourites.
- Buyer’s history: we also consider a buyer’s previous interactions with similar items (such as items of a certain size, category, or price range).
- Bumps: Sellers (including Pro Sellers) can purchase promotional services such as Bumps. A Bump temporarily affects an item’s ranking in feeds and search results, increasing the likelihood of it being seen. This is an optional, paid service.
9 Writing reviews
After a transaction is completed, both buyers and sellers/Pro Sellers can leave a review about the transaction and the other party. Reviews can be submitted within four days after the transaction is completed.
We do not compensate users for leaving reviews, nor do we review or verify reviews before they are published. Check out our feedback policy for more information.
