How time flies. It’s December again, and we all know what that means: The Game Awards 2025. A night of Mountain Dew ads with a few highly anticipated game announcements, glitzy CGI trailers, and the odd award thrown in, all paced to the perfunctory mannerisms of self-appointed industry tastemaker Geoff Keighley. What joy to usher in the yuletide.
Cynicism aside, it’s arguably the most important night of the year when it comes to big-name announcements. Previous editions have been the setting for some memorable snippets: the tangible glee coursing through the crowd for the God of War reboot reveal, Keanu Reeves’ unforgettable “breathtaking” moment, and we can always rely on Josef Fares to cough out a few expletives to spice up proceedings.
For those planning to pull an all-nighter and those State-side who can watch at an entirely more civilised time, we’ll walk you through all the details around how to watch The Game Awards 2025.

What to expect from The Game Awards 2025

First and foremost, the winners in 31 different award categories will be announced, ranging from Game of the Year to Best Independent Game, by way of Best Multiplayer Game, and everything in between. Alongside, the show includes a slew of world premieres and announcements, along with a meaty serving of ads that aren’t always related to video games. To give him his due, Keighley’s has an eye for a good surprise, so expect a few of those, whether that’s cameos from Hollywood stars or out-of-left-field announcements.
As for what will be shown, the rumor mill has been hard at work. Top of the list is a strange statue in the Mojave Desert that relates to a Diablo, God of War, and Divinity Original Sin 3 announcement, depending on who you ask. Moving on, some slippery fingers at PlayStation have pretty much confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem will show off a first look at fan-favorite Leon Kennedy.
Additionally, Crystal Dynamics’ Tomb Raider reboot is confirmed, as is a new Total War game, a look at Exodus, and more on Phantom Blade Zero. Shifting away from games, we also know that Evanescence will be providing some of the musical entertainment during the event, showcasing their track Afterlife from the Devil May Cry Netflix show.
Beyond these, it’s all speculation: Marvel’s Wolverine, Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet, whatever Santa Monica Studio has been up to since God of War Ragnarok, Housemarque’s Saros, Larian’s next project, 077 First Light, a Bloodborne PC port, Fable, something from Keighley’s best bud Kojima? We’ll have to wait and see.
