Naughty Dog is back with its latest big-budget project, Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet, a glitzy retro-futuristic action-adventure set in space. The title marks a sci-fi debut for the developer of The Last of Us. Before you get too excited, we’re still in the early stages of the marketing rollout, with only a brief glimpse shared so far. The release is still a ways off; we’re talking years away.
What we do know is that Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet is going to be a big deal. With that in mind, here’s everything we know about Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet, including release, platform, story, and more.
- Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet has no confirmed release date or window.
- The cast features the likes of Tati Gabrielle, Troy Baker, Kumail Nanjiani, and more.
- The game is an action-adventure set in and around the planet of Semperia.
- Sony has yet to confirm a platform.
Predicted Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet release window

As it stands, neither PlayStation nor Naughty Dog has confirmed an Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet release window, let alone a firm release date. According to Bloomberg journalist Jason Schrier, the game isn’t expected to hit store shelves until 2027 at the earliest.
In other words, a 2026 release seems highly unlikely, and we could very well see Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet land as a cross-generation release, straddling the PS5 and Sony’s next console, presumably called the PS6.
Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet cast

A quick peek at the IMDB page for Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet and the cast is already looking pretty stacked. There’s familiar video game voice actor royalty in the shape of Troy Baker, but also some big-screen muscle lending their acting chops to the project, with the likes of Tati Gabrielle as protagonist Jordan A. Mun. We’ll also see the talents of Stephen A. Chang, Tony Dalton, Ashley Scott, Kumail Nanjiani as Colin Graves, and Halley Wegryn Gross as AJ.
Naughty Dog and Sony are known to reach deep into their coffers to pull in prime talent for their big-ticket games, so expect the cast list to swell in prestige as we get nearer to Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet’s release.
Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet gameplay and story predictions

As far as Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet gameplay goes, all we know is that it’s an action-adventure, meaning a composite of combat and presumably some variant on exploration. The trailer’s final scene, where Jordan fights a robot, implies acrobatic, melee-based combat, but it’s so short that it’s hard to decipher much else. Beyond that, the lack of gameplay footage and Naughty Dog keeping us in the dark regarding details means that we know very little else.
As for the story, it’s set millennia in the future and revolves around a planet called Sempiria, which is cut off from the rest of the universe by a strange communication blackout. You play as Jordan A. Mun, a skilled bounty hunter who ends up near Sempiria. Stranded and left to her own devices, she’ll vie to become the first person in well over half a century to leave the planet’s orbit.
Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet trailer analysis
PlayStation and Naughty Dog have released a lone Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet trailer so far, beamed out to the world at Geoff Keighley’s Game Awards in December 2024.
The trailer is CGI-heavy as you’d expect from a Sony AAA world premiere. It depicts the protagonist, Jordan, loitering about a retro-futuristic spaceship, shaving her head, watching anime that feels like a cross between Miami Vice and Cyberpunk Edgerunners on a CRT TV, and sporting sleek Adidas sneakers. Oh, and the ship is a Porsche. Product placement, anyone?
The ship appears to be orbiting a planet with a habitable atmosphere, while the orbiting moon is shattered, forming a fibonacci-style spiral of debris. Through a quick pan to a wall that looks like a mad detective’s case board, we get a hint about the central theme of the game: a group of expert thieves called the Five Aces, of which Jordan was a member.
A call comes in from AJ, Jordan’s agent, confirming some intel, prompting Jordan to hit the cockpit and eye up the planet below. She selects the ‘Pet Shop Boys, actually’ album on a Sony-branded CD player. The band’s anthemic ‘It’s a Sin’ then plays as Jordan flies off towards the planet and moon. The trailer ends with Jordan duking it out against a robot wielding an obnoxiously large two-sided axe in a swamp.
Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet platforms

Given that Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet isn’t expected until 2027 at the earliest, platforms is an interesting question. It’s too late to convincingly expect a PS5-only release and a little too early to firmly expect a PS6 release (or whatever Sony deigns to call its next console).
As such, it’s entirely within the realm of possibility that Sony will straddle both generations, launching on both, much like it did in the early days of the PS5 with games like Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales, and Sackboy A Big Adventure. The only potential hiccup here is that Naughty Dog pushes the performance requirements of the game so far that only a souped-up next-gen console may have the hardware to power the game. This is speculation, though, so hold tight for firmer details.
