The policy documents are misleading and over state what's covered - for instance vaccines say $50 for all the basic vaccines "per incident". This means if you're like most people and have your dog vaccinated for a few things in one visit, they only pay the $50 once and not for each vaccine. This is one example of many. They are super shady.
Horrible experience. First of all, my policy states that I have a “$500” deductible and am reimbursed 70% AFTER the deductible has been met. However, what Figo fails to mention is that if the first appointment is greater than $500, they remove the deductible after the 70% reimbursement has been applied - essentially making the deductible 30% more than they state (unlike all other Pet Insurances I’ve come across as well as how the average Health Insurance is applied - I work for Medicare so I am well aware how human health insurance works). So in all, if using Figo, be aware that the deductible is much higher and in my case, $650 rather than $500!

We have had Figo for our Havanese Poodle mix since we got him as a pup. We had never had to make a claim until our dog Asher, now age 7, suddenly developed a scary autoimmune disease that caused his platelets to plummet (ITP). Asher had to be hospitalized for several days and needed a blood transfusion and various other medical procedures. The hospital bill for him was significant and so we filed our first set of claims, hoping Figo would come through. We have been so happy with their service! They covered substantial portions of the claims in a timely fashion. Once the claim is processed, the money is deposited right into our accounts. We are so grateful that we chose Figo when Asher was a puppy. It has given us tremendous peace of mind knowing that we were able to do everything possible to save his life. I’m happy to report that Asher is being weaned off of his meds and is doing very well. Figo continues to cover the ongoing costs.

Claim turnaround time is longer than usual lately. Filed claim with RX number on receipt and sent photo of label. Figo is requesting more paperwork! This is ridiculous. Hire English speaking reps who are knowledgeable. Service has gone downhill & premiums are higher than ever.

Very disappointed with Figo.
I purchased insurance for my pets expecting reliable support, but instead I’ve faced constant refusals and shifting explanations.
1. First denial: I was told that “the first month isn’t covered,” even though this was never clearly communicated at the time of purchase.
2. Second denial: They claimed that because my cat is not spayed, any health issue is automatically considered a consequence of that.
3. After that: Every single claim has been dismissed as a “pre‑existing condition,” regardless of the situation.
The most absurd case was when my cat jumped off the couch, twisted her leg, and her paw became swollen. A simple injury that needed attention. Pet Claude refused the claim, stating that she “has cancer and they won’t cover it.”
My cat has never been diagnosed with cancer. This was just another excuse not to provide coverage.
This company seems focused on avoiding payouts rather than helping pets and their owners. Constant denials, contradictory explanations, and a complete lack of accountability. I do not recommend Figo.

I’ve had my poodle for 7 years now and I used to be a Trupanion customer. After switching to Figo I can say that the service and claims process is much much better than its competitors. Because of Figo I don’t have to constantly worry whether a veterinary emergency or procedure will set me back financially. Figo is a top quality insurer and I recommend them to anyone who needs to cover vet bills. They can be a bit on the pricier side but you definitely get what you pay for.

They paid 5% of an emergency claim where the policy says 70%. We wasted our money on this policy and were deceived by what they said they would cover. Despite trying to appeal, we were told the claim was closed and recourse was not available. Terrible customer service and claims experience.

Paid heavy premiums for both of my dogs. Every claim I had went wrong. I had to take time from my day to clarify call veterinarian to get documentation that I felt like it was there job. They denied a large claim stating it was in the 6month waiting period even though I was paying the premiums and wasn’t aware of the waiting period. Very deceitful to say the least. Wasted money with this unworthy company and time. I wouldn’t recommend this dog insurance company to anyone.

FPI30000114468 My claim was closed without a clear explanation. When I reopened it, FIGO said it cannot be appealed or processed because it is “just closed, not denied.”
They then asked my veterinarian to contact them to explain a credit shown on the receipt, even though the receipt already includes full vet information and FIGO has my vet on file.
This is unacceptable. I pay insurance premiums. It is FIGO’s adjuster’s responsibility to verify invoices directly with the vet, not to close claims and push the work onto the customer or the veterinary clinic.
Closing a claim without verification, refusing to reopen it, and then telling the customer to ask the vet to call you is irresponsible and lazy claim handling.
If you actually need reimbursement when your pet is sick, be very careful with FIGO.

We asked very specific questions when deciding whether to sign up or not (will this cover exam fees? Dental?). After two separate claims were denied, I'm done. They found 7 different categories to make sure they denied EVERY penny, and after talking to customer service about how their policies are structured, and reviewing the paperwork, the business model is clear - lie to get you to sign up, because there are no consequences to lying. Then collect your money until you file a claim, which they will deny because basically nothing is covered. Then move on.
