Katie Will Announce CBS Move on Wednesday

Katie Couric will anchor the 'CBS Evening News,' and the announcement will be made tomorrow. That's what well-placed network sources tell TMZ.
We're told that CBS News President Sean McManus will let NBC make the first statement. Our sources say NBC has not scheduled a formal news conference, which could indicate that Katie would make the announcement herself on 'Today.'

As we first reported, Meredith Vieira is NBC's choice to replace Katie. Sources say the sticking point in NBC's negotiation with Vieira is that she wants a shorter contract than NBC has offered. Vieira wanted to keep her options open in case the hours and demands were too much for her lifestyle, and NBC does not want a short-termer in such a critical position.
