Towering waterfront haven of luxury

Set the scene: In a city crowded with skyscrapers, Rosewood Hong Kong stands out. Soaring 270 metres above the city, the 413-room flagship of the ultra-luxury group commands an enviable waterfront location on Victoria Harbour, plus stunning views of Hong Kong's iconic skyline. Inside is a world of its own: 11 dining and drinking venues, extensive wellness facilities, gallery-worthy art, elegant rooms and suites and top-notch service that attracts movers and shakers.

Tell me more about the design: New York-based designer Tony Chi has created a vivid fusion of east and west within this vertical estate. The hotel's logo is integrated into the main entrance's door handles. Guests are immersed in colour and texture upon entering – from patterned floor tiles to paintings and sculptures by the likes of Damien Hirst, Lynn Chadwick and Wang Keping. Lift vestibules on each floor resemble sitting rooms filled with books and objects d'art to enhance the feeling of a residence.

What about the rooms and suites? At 53 square-metres, entry-level rooms are among the most spacious in the city. The design features a mix of materials like checked wool wallpaper, tweed sofas and timber louvres, with refined details such as leather-padded hangers and two styles of bathrobes. Gleaming marble bathrooms come with twin vanities, twin walk-in showers and standalone bathtubs. Suites have added perks, including butler service and access to the Manor Club lounge.

Dining and drinking: With 11 restaurants and bars, there's something for most tastes. Michelin-starred The Legacy House specialises in Shunde cuisine, while Chaat, also with one star, takes diners on a journey of Indian flavours. More casual spots include Bluhouse for Italian, Bayfare Social for Spanish and Holt's Café for Hong Kong comfort fare. Executive pastry chef Jonathan Soukdeo's sweet treats at Butterfly Patisserie are also popular. Dimly lit Darkside is a regular on Asia's 50 Best Bars list and XX is a hidden speakeasy lounge with epic harbour views.

A world of wellbeing: Wellness offerings are superb here. Asaya Spa has partnered with French beauty brand Guerlain and celebrated hair stylist Rossano Ferretti, promising a glow up for every guest. Fitness and wellness classes, from yoga and sound healing to stretching and aerobics, are held daily. For total relaxation, two suites with their own treatment rooms are available to book.
