BKK Social Club, inside the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, is a glowing, glamorous destination bar that could easily be a Golden Era movie set. Soaring arches, a towering mirrored back bar, sensuous golden lighting and tumbling greenery furnish a room that feels impossibly luxe – even by five-star hotel standards.

The al fresco smoking terraces alone are big enough to be dazzling bars in their own right. Service from bar-world veteran Philip Bischoff, manager Dheeradon 'Gotji' Dissara and head bartender Chunyanuch 'Ning' Yodsuwan is seamless and intuitive – no surprise from a bar that won the Michter's Art of Hospitality Award as part of Asia's 50 Best Bars 2022. 

The current menu draws inspiration from the other side of the world – Mexico – and is broken into sections called People, Places and Parties. It features elegant riffs on Michelada, tepache and horchata, a liquid tribute to the oldest bar in Tequila, and an ingenious Mezcal Negroni made with pineapple Campari, coffee vermouth and olive saline.

Groups can order past favourites like the tequila-malbec-Campari gem Hand of God – a nod to football's most infamous handball – in 750ml or three-litre bottled format. Even the classics list gets clever upgrades: a peat-kissed highball and the most convincing case yet for a wet martini. For all the drama and dazzle, BKK Social Club never forgets that most fundamental thing: it's a bar. You come to drink and you leave wanting to come back.
