The Eurovision Song Contest is an annual international song competition organised by the European Broadcasting Union. The contest is open to countries who have an active EBU membership, although some non-European countries such as Australia and Morocco have competed. Each country selects an original song and artist. As more than 40 countries enter, there are knock-out rounds and two semi-finals before 26 acts compete in the final. Since its launch in May 1956 in Switzerland, 52 countries have participated at least once. The 2024 Grand Final was held in Malmo, Sweden on May 11. Olly Alexander represented the UK with his track Dizzy.
